In other news, I have a beater body for my cruiser since I found rust on my drivers floor board. At this point im going to swap bodies in 2 years or So. Im tossing around the idea of cutting the top off for a second cruiser and patching fhe rust that forms...

Oh and swapped to a 195 thermostat and have much more consistent temperature now

The main squeeze...shes the supervisor obviously. Swapped out the front seat back to stock and am swapping center consoles

LOL... I think she is staking her claim on that chair.

Little bit haha

Ditched the 6 inch shackles, and now have the 3 inch anti inversion shackles back on. Now Its too low...time to buy 4-5 inch shackles next....

*Will be edited shortly on my computer for more background and links plus a map of the route on the next post*

Well I did a little exploring today in the woods. Turned into a hundred mile round trip with approximately 30-40 of that actually being offroad. On the way to the mine there Is a grave site for the lovejoy family homestead, It Is a grave for a small girl and the only known marker In the area.

Funny enough in a straight line the mine is only 15 miles from my house and one ridgeline over. The place is called Walker mine which was a town of 3,000 In The early 1900s to 1930s. The mine itsself is a copper mine and a minimal use gold mine. The water is turquoise because of arsenic which Is used to seperate the copper from ore. The arsenic has had the side effect of killing all the fish In the creek and the california waterboard to seal the enterance and the stream to be diverted to reduce arsenic levels in the surrounding areas. Do not drink the water, it can kill people and animals.

Additionally we found a bunch of old buildings on one of the roads near some creeks that used to be old mining camps and homesteads.

The mine carts are corroded orange because of the copper decaying the metal which in places you can also see the trademark green like the statue of liberty.

We did some very mild crawling since I have studded 265 ice tires on currently and dont have much clearance...

Finally there are some scenery pics etc

That looks like a tough place to scratch out a living ..... cool pics.

Did the thermostat cure the overheating issue?

Ya its def a cool place, there was a lot more snow and slush last weekend when we reconed it. The week melted everything and hardened the 5 inches of mud to solid pack so i wasnt fishtailing in 4wd the whole way down lol

Yes and no it stopped it from climbing as fast but still gets to 210 on hills even with the heater running. Only thing left to check would be radiator now since its a new water pump, t star and heads.

Oh and I own a datsun pickup now too...my girlfriends parents are pretty cool. Truck In exchange for pulling out an old hot tub in the backyard which I need to do before it gets too hot.

Truck wont run off the fuel tank but will run off a gas can so its either a clogged line, bad fuel pump, vapor lock or a combination I think

That is one of the coolest off road trip places ever!!! Thanks for sharing that trip!
Thanks, Its a neat area. I forgot to update the thread though....ill do that later

In other news I found snow. So that was fun. Then I found a pitiful amount of snow in my front yard.
I am ditching my rear seat and making a bucket seat mount instead and I will be attempting to make cable cutting brakes in the meantime too. I wouldlike to put line lockers in front or hydraulic cutting brakes in the front too

jeez...got yet another call to rescue someone in the woods that was stuck...right before dinner too, that's 2 just this week and about 10 this year
they got unstuck right as I got there too so I wasn't really needed

same people as the other day called me about being stuck. like everytime its been while im cooking dinner, this time it was a 4wd dodge flatbed with a 24valve cummins. threw bessie in 4lo and crawled the truck out of an embankment that the drivers side was completely over in, thanks to some strap geometry and some shoveling wee got the truck out in 2 pulls without hitting a tree somehow... these guys were stuck about 10 miles out in the woods and im getting a 12 pack of anchorsteam ale out of it so that aint that bad. my going rate is a 6 pack of the beer of my choice or a 12 pack of coors cans and in this case because of the distance a 12 pack of long necks or a 30 rack of crap beer

the rates work haha in other news...BESSIE is running on 33x12.50s! sort of...I need longer shackles up front and to trim my fenders so that's the plan this week. she also has a new friend, everyone meet Ruth, the 1971 Datsun 1600 521

Nice 521! That was my first car in HS before my FJ60, had a flatbed and a 4.3 in it though. More recently got stolen and stripped but I got it back.

bummer on getting it stolen, yeah im looking forward to fiddling with this one for a DD as it can probably be flat towed with no problems behind mine. plus I have some corbeau race seats to drop in, spare chevy 15x8s and a bunch of other misc stuff to get it started and rolling in the right direction

thanks to georgs interview with me I now have the final requirements for my OHV paper for one of my classes. in the meawhile all ive wanted to do it fiddle with my truck except the paper is due tomorrow...meh. Datsun has no new crap, cruiser needs gas and I want to go fishing :crybaby: I hate the weeks before finals...:bang: :censor:

Will you quit your whining and just ace that finals and finish your education.Just wait till you have a wife, children, mortgage and bills that never goes away then you can cry about it.Learn some good paying skills or get a degree while your young.
