That is why I suggested tapping the HB in and then use a pry bar to see if there is play. If there is and the HB is tight then it's a thrust washer issue I think.

Sorry. Been away for work. Right now, I've got everything on there, truck is ready for a drive.

To do this step - tap in the HB and use the pry bar to see if there's any play - I'll have to remove the belts, etc., leaving only the HB on there, tap it in with a hammer, use a pry bar to see if there's any play. Tap the hammer around the outside of the HB? Use the pry bar from the top or bottom, I guess, against the engine block? Sorry for repeating this but just want to make sure I am following your suggestion. Thanks for your help.

you're just looking for some movement in the crank when pushed in and then out. If there was movement then the thrust bearings are an issue.

Can I do this test with everything on there - belts, etc., or do I have to remove the belts, leaving only the HB? Sorry but being a weekend mechanic, I need all details before I do this test. Thanks

Yes you can leave everything in there .If the wobble you are seeing is in the crank then it should be pretty obvious when you try this

Finally had a chance to do this. I didn't see any obvious movement. Thanks

then the wobble that you are seeing is likely not a wobble at all. There is probably some discoloration along the edge of the crank pulley that is only in a spot and not all around the pulley. When the engine is idling your eye can see that that as a wobble because the edge of the pulley seems to move.
