I've heard lots of jokes about the Saran Wrap but I always thought it was along the same lines as the color of the curtains in your 80. I didn't think that you actually had tried it, regardless of whether it was a joke or a serious test. I wish I had been in the club and at the run where that picture was taken.

You got something against the curtains in my 80? Greg and I spent hours pouring over fabric web sites looking for the right colour combinations. Please consider other's feelings before you shoot off your mouth.
There is no way to hurt my feelings about the shrink wrap. The first jab at my ingenuity was 10 minutes after I left the house when the nice lady at Starbucks asked me if Pristine was new. "No." I quietly replied, "Why do you ask?" She said "I thought it might be new because it still has the plastic on it." Most of the guys on that trip were cool with it but Robbie drove the final stake right through my heart when he told me my truck looked like a used condom.
Naysayers aside, the experiment was quite successful. I have refined the process and materials since those early, dark days. Stage II of the experiment has been conducted in private testings. Not so much to avoid the cruel criticism from the club (but that's part of it,) but more to maintain secrecy. Marc, you of all people should understand secrecy since that is a major requirement where you work.
Anyway, Stage II was an enormous success. Stage III involved some minor adjustments to the material composition and Stage IV perfected the application techniques. The patent has been applied for and granted.
Cruise Moab 2007 will mark the debut of the final product. Toyota has agreed to use our product on all of their Trail Team vehicles. We have donated 10 kits in the Friday night raffle at CM07. We will be doing a demonstration (application and endurance test) at the Thursday night vendor fair. Of course, Pristine will be decked out with a full treatment; both sides, bonnet, and for the first time, the roof. We are calling this Invisible Armour[SIZE=-1]™[/SIZE].

Did your Phase I test use that thick, sticky-backed clear wrap that is often used for restraining large or bulky items on pallets that are being shipped somewhere? Not a bad money-making idea since there probably are many more people out there worried about getting scratches on their mall cruisers than people who don't mind (or are even proud of) a little trail pinstriping.

Please pay attention. It was Stage I, not Phase I, and no, the material was not the shrink-wrap material.

Jon's engine came from DOA with shrink-wrap and nobody hassled him did they!!! Not one single comment. Further proof that everyone's always pickin' on me.

Jon hasn't taken his engine on a run yet or parked it in front of Starbucks while he got his double mocha latte before the run so we can't logically give him grief about it being wrapped with plastic.

Why did the hood receive the "treatment"....
The trail was tight. Really tight. Sharp thorns like driving through a barbed wire fence for 3 hours. It was the (now closed I think) trail past cabin springs and the big oak tree up to the B17 crash site on North Baldy in the Magdelanas. The hood got the treatment as part of the experiment. All kidding aside, the stuff worked really well. I was surprised.
The emotional scars from the harassment of so-called friends is another matter.

He arrived late to the run and snuck up on us as we traveled south on I-25. He came on the radio and said "Now don't laugh guys, OK?" He kept repeating that til he passed a couple of us and the reason became clear.....
It was indeed effective, to the point that it kept his rear flare from comming completely off when he attempted to get a very large rock to move out of his way.....

Very excited indeed. Going to Ft. Dodge, IA for Weds. wrenching with Doc. Then the next day onto IBCRUSN's pad in Wichita then the inbound to NM through Amarillo, TX.
Should be there late Friday night and then a nice wrenching sesh at Beo's on Saturday!!

The objective of Saturday is to remove the 851/860 springs from my truck and install them (with new OME shocks) onto Noah's truck. Then we'll take Noah's truck somewhere to put on the tires (BFG MTs.) While my truck is up with the springs off, we will put on the 4" springs if they have arrived. There is a chance we won't have the fronts. I need to call Christo to check the status. If the springs are not in town then we may be doing "Plan-B."

Sounds like a plan. I hope everything makes it in time for the big switcharoo.
By the way, the coils (850J/863) I got from you last week burned a hole in my pocket overnight and I put them on immediately the next morning. To the untrained eye it looks about the same, but I got some great extra lift out of the switch. Sold my mediums to my buddy, who by the way, should be a new HDC member when his truck arrives. I hope to get him out on the April run.
