1997 Toyota Land Cruiser “Triple Locked” with 257k miles. Looking for $13k OBO

Been a PNW truck its whole life, even has original window sticker from a dealership in Portland. It’s not rust free, but I would say it has a “reasonable” amount but obviously that’s subjective.

Lockers engage with relatively no fuss. Been used as a wheeler - pretty much every body panel has a dent of some kind in it but it’s all “cosmetic” dents.

Has a lot of aftermarket accessories and work done to it, but like every old vehicle there is always work to be done.

4x4 Labs Double Rear Swing Out
Bellfab Front Bumper
Bellfab Interior Tire Carrier
Dobinson Progressive 3 Inch Lift Coils
OME Shocks
Delta 3 Inch Radius Arms
Delta Shifter Console
sPOD
RCV Chromoly Axles
SCS 16 Inch Wheels
Pro Comp 315/75/16 Tires - BFG Spare on OEM Wheel
Corbeau Heated Seats (heaters included but not wired)
Diff Armor on Diffs
Slee Rear Locker Guard
Iron Pig Transfer Case Skid
Transmission Skid
Slee Rear Lower Links
Rock Sliders
Aluminum radiator
Blue Sea SafetyHub
Military Battery Terminals

Maintenance since I’ve owned it:
New Tom Wood Drive Shafts
New rear brake pads/calipers
Rear Axle Service - pinion seal replaced and a couple new diff studs
New lower engine oil seals/gaskets (was leaking a ton when I bought it)
New accessory belts
Transmission pan reseal
Wheel bearings

The Bad:
Oil filter is a little glittery
Dents throughout
Interior carpet and headliner could use a replacement. They’re not absolutely disgusting but they aren’t good either.
Worn interior - seats are good though!
Rear hatch doesn’t close all the way. It locks, but there’s a bit of a gap.
Exhaust needs some work - there’s no cats so it won’t pass smog and it needs a hanger. No holes or leaks just clangy and loud
D Light Burned Out
Tripometer doesn’t work - speedometer works fine
Fuel light on - sender works fine, light just stays on.
ABS Light On - ABS likely not functioning

I understand what “glittery” means in the literal context. So you’ve cut previous filters and found bearing material? What caused you to cut a filter? Usually people dont cut filters unless they suspect something catastrophic. Nice looking 80, but Im reading this ad as its being sold with a hurt engine, is that accurate?

I purchased this about a year ago out of Portland, towed it home and parked it in my driveway and noticed a pretty substantial oil leak. Brought it into my local Land Cruiser shop (Technique Vehicle Outfitters) to have them do the lower engine and transmission oil seals and gaskets and during that service they found some metal in the oil. I've driven it a few thousand miles since; starts up fine, idles fine, drives fine but as part of prepping it for sale I did a final oil change and brought the oil filter in to TVO and had them cut it open.

I think calling the engine "hurt" is subjective but I won't necessarily argue with that either as it's also a 1FZ with 257k miles. Ultimately I want to be as up front as possible with any future/potential buyers. I hope that helps.

Stand up. Its much easier to live with a clean conscious. GLWS!

Technique is a legit LC shop!

They are!

Also worth mentioning that the lower engine oil seals/gaskets, new accessory belts, and transmission pan reseal were all done when the metal was found (like $4k worth of service).

After that I put the Delta radius arms on, shifter console and then a few months later did wheel bearings, new drive shafts, rear axle service and brake service so I am not *that* concerned about the motor.

Looks like it could be a nice trail rig. The “glitter” is concerning. Have you done any oil analysis?
