after 2 hours i got all 3 belts off and re-installed, but have not tightened. do i really need a belt tensioner gauge or can i just tighten without??

and where in the heck is the fuel pressure dampener...i replaced the regulator, but cant find where dampener is

thx all

60 or 62? You don't need a gauge but it helps.

It's easy to over tighten, which is what I believe to be the death of many power steering pumps.

thumb

use your thumb to apply pressure in the middle of the longest section of the belt and you should be able to push down 1/2 to 1" is about the right amount of tension.you can also use the method were you watch the belt bounce while you goose the gas the lesser the belt bounce the tighter the belt is,you want it to were the belt just have a minimum of bounce when you rev the engine.hope this helps learned it from some old school mechanic years ago.

its an 89 62.......i will check out prices for gauges......probably cheaper to buy gauge than to start replacing mechanicals because i was too cheap to buy gauge

thx all
