Nah, you need a new engine with a charger on it. 
That's what I am thinking as the extra hot gas could have cracked the flimsy exhaust manifold making ticking/ knocking noise.
I'm on board with getting a professional opinion. I've never ever seen or heard of one of these blowing, much less push rods. I'm betting on the manifold.

Haha i didn't expect this to get so much attention. I have had an exhaust tick for some time now, maybe that's all it is! I'm taking it in to mechanic on Saturday, I'll let you guys know the outcome!

Seems to me this story is a bit incomplete here as it is. When passing and hearing this noise did the OP stop? Lose power? Engine quit or CE light come on? Did he continue on to his destination? Get towed?
I had a Nissan V6 with ~125k die and it went from loss of power to a little knock to a big knock to seizing up just enough to stop the motor all in about 15 seconds. I mean that motor "died" and I needed a new engine.
If the OP is still driving this vehicle around taking it to various shops (unless I'm reading this wrong) it seems to me it couldn't have "died" right?

That's canadianbum on the forums. Jon can probably sell you a motor and do the swap all in one place. He pulled and rebuilt my 1HD-T last year. Solid guy, but he's always globetrotting!
I'm just gonna go ahead and say this: I don't think you need a new engine...

Hey guys sorry for the delay. Canada day long weekend proved to be a tough time to get it diagnosed, whoever guessed that it was the manifold.. 
. Shop says it is cracked all the way across and that is what is making the knocking (and ticking) sound. He also noted the oil was quite low, which is odd as I recently gave it a change.
But anyway, the guy said he had never worked on a land cruiser before (they're kinda rare in Canada apparently) so he referred me to a land cruiser fanboy/Toyota mechanic (Toyota dealer) for the work. Haven't got a quote yet but he informed me it's not gonna be cheap. So 2 questions, how much do you guys think it will cost for a stealership shop to fix it? and can it be done by a weekend hobby mechanic (myself).
And a big thanks for all the support, this is my first real call for help on the forums and you guys have been super helpful

It never "died" just started making an awful rattling noise after redlining for some time. The rattling stopped as I reached the top of the hill and a knocking sound in addition to my pre-existing ticking sound started. Been that way ever since, as far a driving ive noticed a small loss in power and what feels like a rough idle when in gear. And yes the timing was bad as I am in training for the fire dept right now and had to keep driving it 10 mins a day to and from training
