Well, now I have an Avatar I feel official!

My name is Mark and live near Brighton, MI. (Michigan State Motto: It's not that bad!) :D I used to live and wheel in Arizona for 4 1/2 year so I know what I am missing.

My ride is a 1997 FZJ80 I got almost a year ago with 89k miles in Phoenix, AZ. Other notables are 40th edition and factory lockers :) . I lucked out while there for business. After the 90k mile scheduled service at a dealer I drove it straight back to Michigan in about 36 hours. That was the first and will be the last time I cannonball run across the country (alone at least  ).

Only mod to date is a set of Super Swamper LTB 33x13.50-16 on steel wheels. My street tires are BFG AT 285 on factory alloy wheels.

This will be my daily driver for now, but got the '80 for what it was engineered to do .... wheelin'!

List of future mods ... ARB this and Slee that with 36" Swampers!

Read you later,

FochDog

P.S. I grew up and went to HS in New Jersey & parents still live there. So, to all the other Jersey Boys.... :flipoff2:

Welcome :flipoff2:

Post some pics ( i.e. This thread is useless without pics)

Do you have Lcokers?

Not sure how long you have had the LTBs but a friend of mine got them and was hugely disapointed.

Welcome to the board, but we have a saying around here.... It's not MI that sucks its the folks that live there :flipoff2:

If you get back to NJ, shoot a ring dude.

Junk,

So far I like the LTBs a lot. They balanced out fine  and the road manners aren't as bad as I expected.

All,

Some pics...

Silver Lake Sand Dunes on the shore of Lake Michigan
see pic below... (my edit)

Mounds ORV Park (mud, mud, mud)
see pic below... (my edit)

Why I want 36" Swampers and I know there will always be deeper ruts.

Fochdog the pic links you posted suck... and even worse if you're from NJ, you're probably a Devils fan.

They don't suck..........You just have to look real hard to see the pictures right behind the INVALID ATTACHMENT notice :D

Were you stalled in that second picture....or just jumped out for photo op?

Welcome! :flipoff2:

Oh...and you might want to remove your "damage multiplier" before it really bites you...

Nice looking truck!

"Damage Multipliers"

I'm considering the running boards "boulder feeler" until I get sliders. Hopefully this summer. I was stuck & needed evidence. A Heep had to pull me out.

"Two Tone"

Yeh...I am a little suspicious about the two tone. I have never seen another 40th Edition with the same colors. I did suspect some body shop screw up ... but I can't find any other evidence why this would be.

Nice rig, I have been looking for one clean and one owner 40th anniversary edition with low miles and lockers. Antique Sage Pearl is a the true 40th edition cruiser. :D

damage multiplier = the piece of s*** waag grill gaurd, not the running boards. running bords are termed as rock feelers here so you were half right.
Dave

The grill guard was on the truck from the previous owner. It does kind of cover the nice '80 profile. But, for most of the brushy stuff I'm wheelin' in lately it's okay.

It will come off when I get an ARB or Slee bumper. Agian, hopefully this summer.

What is your paint code? It's on the white plate inside the driver door.

What the fella's are getting at is you might want to remove it before you hit something and end up having to get serious paint/body work done. Hence the term damage multiplier. Your better off neked.

Detroit is not part of Michigan!!

I assume the first string is the color code. The second looks like the trans code.
