I knew that would get some hits. A motorcycle forum I hang out on is broken down into geographical areas. Folks from the same region get together for what are called "tech days". The host provides a garage, beer, food, balloons, strippers, whatever. This give some of us greener wrenches to benefit from the mad skills and knowledge of more seasoned wrench-wranglers. Do you guys ever do similar things? Who would be the master "Toy Yoda" to me? Is this more a function of TLCA? So who else is in the NE Tennessee, Western NC, SW Virginia?

We do the same thing in our 4x4 club.

It generally end ups 6 guys sitting in Lawn Chairs drinking beer and eating pizza while me and another guy swing wrenches.

Check the clubhouse corner for any TLCA clubs in your area.

STLCA meets up in Chattanooga and Nashville once a month. We meet and have some drinks and shoot the breeze. I usually make the drive from Knoxville for the Chatt meeting. Nashville is a bit too far. Chatt is borderline too far. But Roger and Todd always provide good entertainment. :)
STLCA has been working weekends on the Trails at Tellico all summer, so there have not been any scheduled trail rides or wrenchin' weekends. I think next weekend is the last "work" weekend scheduled. Check the STLCA forum in the clubhouse corner for more info about upcoming events and the monthly meetings. I think there's a run in Sept. in Tracy City and then the Southern Cruiser Crawl is at Gray Rock located north of Birmingham, AL in October. I'm hoping to attend both if life permits.

Whereabouts are you located?

I'm in Bristol, so Chattanooga or Nashvegas are both a little far for me. I'm supprised nobody is closer. You would think Asheville,NC and surrounding areas would be enough to support a chapter. That would be closer for me. Who do the folks in Western North Carolina hang with? I remember a couple of years ago, talking to a guy who was trying to get another NC club off the ground. Anybody know anything?

Olde North State Cruisers started up in the triad area. Not a TLCA chapter (yet) though.

It does seem (myself included) that Cruiser folks in WNC keep to themselves. I do wheel a good bit though.

Well we are a little farther but well worth the drive. Most of our events minus some HAMONs and monthly meetings are in Western NC.

We also have about 10 club members who live in Western NC.

Check us out in the club section.

OK, thanks for the info guys. Kaderabek, what do you mean by "keep to themselves"? Are they just loners, mysterious souls, unknown even unto themselves? Or a tightknit group, as difficult to infiltrate as the mob? (if there were such a thing... of course...he..he...umm...yes...):grinpimp:

I can only speak for myself in saying that I don't like to wheel in large groups. So I pretty much wheel with the same guys. You'd be welcome (and others) to join us at Windrock the last weekend in October though.

rising sun hosts a birfield packing party every year before cruise moab, to give all the members/guests a chance to go through their rigs...birfield or not. there's always knowledgable people floating around to help answer questions.
