I bought a set of beadlock wheels (from one of the big name guys) and have had nothing but problems with them from the start....

First thing was keeping air in them for more than a day. I pulled them apart and put a bead of silicone around the inside of the ring. pulled the threaded air valves and re-sealed them up again. Got that fixed, and now I keep breaking bolts off, and not just one like two or three in a row.

So I replace all the bolts and everything was good for maybe 200 miles and then this morning just drove it home from work and have 3 more broke in a row....

And this is not hapening just on the trail mostly on the road, yeah I know they are not made for highway travel, but I drive to the trails around here maybe 30 miles tops. also these are grade 8 bolts, not sure if thats what they should be as I bought them used.....

Torqued to 20 lbs. Just wondering if this is too much, there is no space between the outer ring and the wheel, unlike other brands that I have seen. So should I try backing them off some? using grade 5 bolts? I'm using a sears torque wrench, maybe check it against something better....

All I know is that I'm getting real good a pulling sheared bolts...

hwo makes them? the beadlocks make a difference in the answer..

I run grade 8 bolts in my MRT beadlocks. Never had a bolt break on me.

ala Robby Gordon specials ;)
Would replacing the outer ring solve this? they have been chewed up alittle but look like they are true...:D

What size bolts do they use?

I would think the RG's would be better than that..

What do you run for air pressure?

Beadlocks aren't designed for road travel:) I bought the DIY models from Summit and have never had a issue with them.

Bolts are 5/16. On psi I run around 27-30 hwy and down to 2-5 on the trail??

I will try to get some pics later of the last three that broke off...

Does anyone think that they are torqued too much? not sure what the specs. are on em.

Torque on a 5/16 coarse bolt is 18+/- 4 foot pounds....

When I ran my 42's on Trail Ready bead lock wheels with 20+ pounds of air in them, I would have Caterpillar grade 8 5/16" bolts with metal locking nuts fail on me....I keep the air pressure under 15, and I am fine.

They are not designed for people that do not want to deal with the maintenance that may be required to keep your tire secured to the wheel properly. Most people have a difficult enough time to remember to check the engine oil, let alone to pay attention to their wheels and tires, or any other critical system of their vehicle.....

Yep, Beadlocks are perfectly fine on the street if you pay attention..

I have Allieds beadlocks. Used them as my DD to and from work, and everywhere else. They ran great on the road, Never had to tighting them, no broken, missing or sheared bolts. Ram them at 10-15-20-and 35psi all with out a problem. 32bolts, long torque sequence, torqued 4 times around from x1-x4 inch lbs. 128 clicks per tire.

We ran these on the UA. DOT approved and it is a double beadlock with a two piece wheel. No little bolts to loosen up. They will be available to the public soon. Not cheap, but an awsome wheel. Easy to mount, but a little bit of a paint to dismount.

I've got 17x9 Allieds with 39.5's and 17x9 Trailready's with 37's...never busted a bolt yet, neither leak down quick either...

IMO, the threaded valve stemp is crap....

RG outta have a torque spec....mine were all done with a cheapie inch# wrench, IIRC it's 5# max on the bolt heads...Allied's site has that stuff noted somewheres...

Rock Monster wheels

I really like the rockmonster wheels, are they built specifically for the 80? Did you powder coat the wheels or are they annodized? Thanks.

Ryan.

These were built for the 80. They will have them for the 100 and the 80 (actually standard 6 on 5.5 bolt pattern with 4.5" backspacing).

They were coated black. Not sure if it was teflon or not.

Had allieds on mine, never ending broken bolts [50+ every 2 weeks] 4 months of hounding and then they half followed my idea of fixing them, which we didnt even mount up, because it wouldnt work, never returned calls, couldnt even order more wheels from them, and have been trying to get money back for them since feb.......

Just ordered a set of RG's should be here in about a week.

So you are saying that you broke 50 bolts every 2 weeks with your allieds?
