Be prepared, lots of reading and evidence found.

So after reading though the Rear Tire Carrier Without Rear Bar- 100 Series Kaymar thread, someone had mentioned that Dissent had a modular hitch mount so I checked it out.

That led me to realize there was a bunch of stuff on it that wasn't priced right.
Pretty much ALL of the parts available are not priced right in the drop down.
They say the modular hitch "starts" at $1250, but you can get it without buying 2 swingouts also.
The cheapest option are two overland panels making it $2448. Big difference from $1250.

The overland panels (non pro) are listed in the drop down as $685 each.
Do the math.
$1250+(685x2)= $2448 $2620

So the panels are in fact only $599 each. Which is what they are listed as in the single item section.
The reverse light is listed as being $171.19 but is actually $184.99!

So I did more digging. Since the Dissent armor is a popular option on here and pretty much everywhere on the interwebs.
Stuff like this exists all of the trucks on their site.

Go look at the LC100/LX470 Ultra-high Clearance Modular Front Bumper
Listed as on sale for $1260 but the price changes to $1310 when you go into it.

Found out where this "mystery" $50 came from.
The "Light Plate" drop down option. The last two options that have the Baja Designs lights with them cost an extra $50 but all the other ones are free.
(At least they used to be before I told them about it and they removed the $50 part after like a week)
Now they are according to the listing all "free".

But anything with the modular front bumper option has that extra $50 added on.
Just like the Modular Hitch parts are listed as the wrong price in the drop downs usually costing YOU more.

So for the time being I'd not order from them until they fix this.
It took them about a week just to remove the $50 thing from the Baja Designs on the light plate option which made it worse not better. These thing could honestly be fixed in like a day if someone would just sit down and do it.

Trucks affected: GX, 80 Series, 100 Series, 200 series.

TLDR; They are ripping people off! Do the math and pay attention!
Also not sure if this should be in the 100 tech section or the general since it covers a bunch of trucks not just ours.

Did you reach out to them? I've personally found them to be very responsive, and never got the "they are ripping people off" vibe. @benc

I did. And told them about all the issues. But they only changed the Baja Designs thing after like a week of them knowing. Wen everything I had told them about could have been fixed by someone in a day or two.
And made it worse by just removing the price but not fixing the issue that was causing the problem.

But like you also said, they are super responsive. They got back to me the very next day.
I totally don't think this is in anyway intentional, just whoever was making or is maintaining the site fat fingered some things. Miss priced some other drop downs. And baked pricing when they shouldn't have.

I'm hoping someone there sees this and it lights a fire under someone's butt to get these things fixed ASAP.
OH BTW added a (For Now) thing to the title to make it look like its getting fixed.

Is the Bad Vendor section really the appropriate sub for this post? You clearly state it does not appear to be intentional.

If you’ve acknowledged there’s no ill intent, this really should be in another section.

Is it fair to put Dissent alongside vendors who have real customer service issues and sus business practices?

Continuity errors on pricing could be the result of a few different things on the backend, but this thread is definitely the result of poor taste.

I’d be embarrassed to have started this thread. Slinging s*** on the biggest cruiser forum in the world is pretty whack.

Dissent is a relatively small/medium operation, basically born here on Ih8mud. I imagine it is difficult to update pricing with the constant changes in material cost/labor costs. They also offer semi-custom in some instances. Would you prefer they offer zero options and just say take it or leave it?

@x8o8drifter try represent Kanaks mo bettah.
I put it in another section and a mod moved it here. So not my fault.

I didn't think it belonged here either.
Since like you said this is for actual customer service issues and stuff. At least that's the way I took it.
AFAIK if someone ordered something off their site and came across the discrepancies I'd assume Dissent would make it right by fixing the order price.

It isn't though.
All the prices go back to the actual part they have listed for individual sale. The things pull from those parts correctly so it's working fine on the backend.
The only thing that could be considered backend is how it's auto adding $50 to all of the modular front bumpers that have those light plate cutouts.
Someone messed up the price listing in the drop downs.
Not back end but literally mistyped stuff by a person that can do basic stuff to the site.

Am I "slinging s***" at one of the best companies out there?
Yeah.
Am I happy about it?
HELL NO!

But also like I said, this should have been something that someone should have been able to do in a few hours/days. The longest would be fixing the auto added $50 thing so it stopped doing that.

I've had to edit prices and add new items to clients websites before. All the drop down prices that are wrong could be done by one guy in less than an 8hr shift.

But after a week had gone by and the easiest thing to fix hadn't been and all they did was remove the extra ($50) thing from the options that had the light plates but it still auto adds $50 to the modular bumpers, I felt I had to make this thread to both get them moving and to have people actually calculate the price on their own.

But yes, I am also embarrassed AF that I even felt I had to post this. But after they stopped responding to my emails after I gave them the issues found and then I waited a week+ after that that's when I posted this.

They changed another issue with some of the Rigid lights being missing priced in the drop down so it is super nice to see someone is working on fixing it.
But it was fixed AFTER my 2nd reply.

And honestly if something like this was happening to a site I buy stuff from I'd like to know. I could have been a real a-hole about it and just posted it without even trying to tell them.

But I tried to do the right thing first.
Tell them I found problems on the site.
Did all the work going to every single page on there to look for any other mistakes.
Logged in all and sent the information to them.
Waited over a week of not getting any replies other than the first one.
Then posted this to warn people to temporarily beware.

Does doing what I would consider being the right thing even if it makes them look bad make me "whack"?
Maybe but I felt it was right to let everyone know, and until the site gets fixed calculate it yourself just incase.
I even told them it'd be bad news if this got out.
They agreed.

Yeah, but they aren't updating them.
They're just mistyped for the large part.

So it has nothing to do with the material/labor cost as of now.

Custom stuff isnt even in the problems BECAUSE it's custom.

The overland panels are $599 uncoated on the single item page. But they are $749 powdercoated.

On the modular hitch page, it says all parts are powder coated. So, for $599, you are getting free powder coating.

If you want the barebones modular hitch at $1250, just call and ask for such.

Where you overcharged ? Did Dissent refuse to refund you if you were ? . Or did you just see mistakes on their site and point them out? Then were not satisfied they did not fix the in a time frame you liked ? Dude most Land Cruiser company's aren't Amazon.. We don't have people on staff to fix typos and errors when they happen . Maybe they are like me and use a web designer. God knows I don't have time to make even the simplest edit. And it's not such an easy fix as you think. When a company is 6 to 8 weeks back ordered (not in the toyotamatt BS way) But just slammed it just may easier to deal with a problem like that through a phone call or email. Dissent is a solid company who I have found super responsive to emails and phone calls. I am waiting on 2 sets of bumpers from them . I have no worry's at all on price or time frame.. EDIT EDIT EDIT !!!!!!!!!!!! Too Many Matts In our community I meant toyotamatt not cruisermatt. Thank you @3_puppies Paul for pointing that out......
