Hey guys, anybody got a spare seat. I would love to go on the ride with yall. I would take my 40, but she is stock with 32's....not quite big enough. Anyways, I can throw in on gas and stuff if anybody is game. I'll be at the meeting on the 12th, looking forward to meeting you guys and hopefully joining the club.

Chris

Chris,
I MIGHT have a seat...
I asked a friend of mine to go as passenger, but I havent heard yet as to wether or not he'll be making it.

Lets try this one.

Rubicon Trail

And then click to August. This is what I see for Aug 15th /16th. NorCal Broncos - 15-20 Rigs.

Maybe they didn't tell the folks on Pirate about it? Or is that the FOTR calendar?

Jeep Jambore Registration Page

Del Albrights page shows the Jamboree dates as July 21st to Aug 1st.

Edit: So that is the Jeepers Jamboree on Dels site.

I just talked to Elizabeth at Jeep Jamboree™.
They will be on the trail Aug 15 - 17.
They leave Loon Lake Friday Morning and camp at the springs Friday night. They stay there until Sunday Morning. Sunday they have a breakfast at 7:00AM and get on the trail up Cadillac Hill by 9:00AM.

Registration is limited to 100 rigs and they have 60 so far.

Kewl.:bounce: We cought a break. Let's just hope they don't deside to close the trail before we can get there. Keith, I'm in the same boat with leaving around 3:00. That should work out fine though, it shouldn't take as long to get to the tail head on this trip. The only thing left hanging will be finding a camp site at the trail head, we'll have to work that out at the next meeting.

shawn,
Would you mind if I followed you up? Ill have the rig loaded up before work and have my friend meet me at the house, throw some food and beverages in the cooler, kiss the wife and split.
Sounds as if it may also be a bit of an issue finding a site at the lake once there from posts ive read on this trail. Also heard word of a downed B52 bomber that went down above the lake in WWII...That'd be cool to hike up to perhaps!
Im frickin JAZZED! Cant wait to go!

Ok...so I'm confused. Even though I won't be on this run I'm curious to know whether or not you're doing Rubicon with the Jeepers or going to Fordyce once again?

AFAIK Fordyce was never an option, just something I threw out there.

We are talking about Barrett Lake as an alternative. However after talking with the Jeeper event organizer it sounds like we could co-exist with them that weekend.

On the other hand I've never done Barrett Lake. It is a trail Shawn and I have been talking about for the past three years, but have never had time to do. Since it is a lesser known tail in a more sensitive area it is also a trail that may be closed in the near future. The trail cuts through the middle of wilderness area in a corrider a couple hundred feet wide, I'm sure the Greenies would love to shut it down. In fact when I talked to the ranger at Pollack Pines she made a comment to the effect "Oh your those noisey Jeep guys who like to drive over rocks." Her tone was not approval.

I'm okay with whatever the majority wants to do.

Since the trail heads are close together the logistics are pretty much the same for both trails.

Maybe everybody who plans to go on this run should be at the meeting on the 12th so we can decide? Keith, you can cast your vote by proxy:flipoff2:

Im down for either one!
Id love to do Rubicon again, but Barrett will be fine with me. My only concern with Barrett Lake is the traffic (since its only open for such a short time) and camping, secondary to the traffic.
Might I suggest...we proceed with plans on Barrett (since none of us have run that one before). Worst case scinerio, since the rubicon is close by, we shoot over and do Rubicon insted. Seems that both are somewhat similar in terrain and gear will be the same for each...

Just a thought.

Would you guys accept a Californian on this trip if said Californian had his crap together?

Dylan

Dude...
Id love to have you along.
A) cuz your my brotha
B) cuz if you DONT go, Ill be the only wagon amidst the squirlly little 40's.

Hope you can make it!

We firmed it up at last nights meeting.

The plan is to meet at Wrights Lake campground Friday night and leave Saturday Morning when everyone is packed up. Saturday we do the trail to Wrights Lake and camp there Saturday Night. Sunday is the trail out and home.

Rusty...
Not to "nit pick", but we are doing Barrett Lake Saturday, correct?
Wrights Lake and Barrett Lake are different I thought. Were MEETING at Wrights and WHEELING INTO Barrett Lake. Since Ive never been, I dont really know any better and hence the question.

Who all is going as per the meeting last night?
