the valley, yeah that one
So we are heading to Baja (again) this may... Basically two days down to San Juanico via the North Road/San Ignacio; a week or so of surfing and fishing, and two days back up. I live in the San Fernando Valley and will be leaving at approximately 5:00 AM. there are lots of cool spots in the area to go explore, or you can simply post up and relax... there is a campground/cantina there now, but you should still bring all the food and water you need just in case. There is also another "town" about thirty miles to the south (San Ysidro and La Purisima) It is a LONG way down the peninsula, so make sure to give at least a week in order to do it comfortably. This is a SUPER fun place in the heart of real Baja, please PM me w/ specific questions. also check out www.scorpionbay.net

oh yeah, and we usually stop in Catavinia on the way back at the La Pinta Hotel $70-$80 a night in the middle of an amazing giant granite boulder garden- and don't forget hand squeezed margaritas too.....mmmmmm....

yeah, we usually see some action depending on how they set the course...

philos:

I was up till 2am last night researching how I am going to get to S-Bay. I read an article in the Surfer's Path documenting a huge swell and their road trip to S-Bay. I pulled up my old 2002 Baja 1000 race course maps and sure enough the race course followed the north route. I now have mile by mile directions on how to take the north road. This is the route that goes through Senor Thomas property, (not the salt flats). I defiantly want to head down there and hit the surf some time. What is the idea direction for a swell to hit there?

cool! GPS maps rock, although we've always just "felt" our way down through that area (took the salt flats last time, no prob), but yeah the Senor Thomas route is usually the way... swell window is pretty narrow (almost a direct due south 185 degrees, I think) even if it is small, there is almost always something to do. also tides look pretty favorable for the time... PM me if you're up for the trip.

My job gives me a little leeway when it comes to taking time off. I will time my trip this summer/fall with a hard south swell. Thank you for the invite but the wife is taking off for a girl’s trip that weekend so I have to watch my son.

cool. just remember that the crowds get bigger during the later months of summer (It's popular with the folks from Constitucion/Insurgentes that time of year) regardless, have fun and be safe!

BUMP... any more takers? It's getting closer...

trip starts this weekend! will post some flicks when we get back. oh, and it's not too late if anyone wants to tag along. cheers, ahem... SALUD!
