Getting **** mileage, could i need my spark plugs changed, close to 260k on the clock and dont remember ever having them changed. Ive only got 143 miles out of the 50$ I put in 3 days ago. Recently changed to 285-75-16 terragrapplers but would not think that much of a difference in mileage was to be seen.

With electronic ignition spark plugs last a long time.
When was the last time you replaced the air filter?
Have you ever cleaned the MAF?
How many gallons did you get for $50? ($50 is a pretty arbitrary amount of fuel.)
What was you previous tire type and size?
What was your previous MPG?
What is your current MPG?
Did you compensate for the new tire size (If different.) when calculating MPG?
This ------>>>>>>>If you went to a larger size your odometer will read fewer than the actual miles traveled. <<<<<-------

Alright $50 gave me 15 gallons, checked the maf yesterday looks ok i guess(not really sure what to look for
), cleaned throttlebody yesterday also with damp rag. Previous tires were the stock michelin 275's. Im getting 10mpg now, before the tires i could pull 280-300 out of a tank with a bit to spare.

Going from a 275/70-16 to a 285/75-16 is going from a 31.2inch tire to a 32.8inch tire meaning your speedo will read 5.4% too slow and your odometer will display 5.4% less miles than you actually drove.

If you got 143 miles out of 15 gallons, then you got (9.5mpg *1.054) = 10.013mpg.

That sounds pretty bad to me.

You went from a 31" tire to a 33" tire, there's 6% right there. You'll typically lose a couple MPG when you go from an all season tread to an off road tread.

Will driving with the power button on or off make any difference? Read somewhere tht with it on witht he bigger tires it will help but havent dont it yet.

You might look at changing your front O2 sensors. I did this and went from 13mpg to 15mpg. I'm running 285 BFG's. Search for some of the O2 Sensor threads.

Looking now at getting plugs changed and also O2 sensors done, hope it helps the beast.

A damp rag is not the best idea for your throttle body... use a TB cleaner such as CRC. For the MAF, use electronic cleaner (CRC makes that too) - search the forum on this, there are 3 elements that need to be sprayed down in the MAF. New plugs and 02 sensors should get you back up some. After all of that, pull the cables form the battery for 10 minutes or so, then reconnect and let idle for 10-15 minutes. Some of this might be forum mojo, but I would do it any way. Then fill the tires to 40 psi min and see what happens... and report back!

Alright ill try that, the damp rag wouldnt have hurt anything though would it? I have nitrogen in my tires.

We all have nitrogen in our tires! Most of us are at 78% vs the 100% from a bottle. Neither makes squat worth of difference. Pretty green valve caps are the only effect.

Generally don't want anything damp inside the engine. The TB may be especially sensitive because of it's brass coating. But a one-time wipe probably didn't do much harm. Just use TB cleaner next time.

Another thing that will help is to turn the cap under the bonnet called 710 half a turn clock wise.
You will gain some.

Explain??

The 710 Cap.

It's there, I promise... Why they put the oil can symbol on upside down is strange, but it's there!
