Injector #6 is not working. It stopped working a week or so ago. Then a couple days ago it started working again. Then today it stopped again. Doesn't click. Checked electrical with a multimeter and it seems fine (same readings as #1 injector).

Should I just replace this injector? Replace all at the same time? If so oem or aftermarket?

Also what else should I plan on doing when I have the intake off? I know the intake needs to be cleaned badly.

send all of them out for cleaning. That should identify that injector as bad or good and if bad then a new injector will match the rest of the recently cleaned ones as far as flow.

But I would suspect a harness problem from what you describe.

Ok I'll take it apart this weekend and send them to witchhunter.

This morning the truck would barely idle. Not sure why it got so much worse while I slept. By a harness problem you mean the fuel injector harness? Or the main engine harness?

Any other PM stuff I should do while I'm in there?

I had morning starting/idle issues on a Camry 20 years ago. Something was cracked, either disty cap or coil, I cant remember, and condensation from sitting overnight was causing problems for the electrical system.

I would take LT's advice and look at that harness and all the connectors.

So its looks like engine harness is ok,,. Pretty sure I've isolated it to a sensor on the drivers side of the head in the very front at the bottom almost where its meets the block. All the plastic has been broken off the connectors on both sides and the wire is very loose. If I unplug it the truck idles very low and stumbles. Plug it back in and hold it tight, the truck idles correctly. It has only a single wire. Anybody know what this sensor is? I've looked everywhere for a diagram to show me what it is but can't seem to find one.

Can you post up a photo?

I'm curious and paranoid - how did you realize that your injector was not working, and how did you isolate it to the #6?

Pull wires one at a time and see which cylinder isn't firing. If one isn't firing, ground the plug wire and make sure it is sparking. If it is you can use a multimeter on the large Ecu plug to determine if the non-firing cylinder's injector is getting power. If the injector is getting the correct signal and you have spark it is most likely bad.

Ok this thing has got me going crazy. I swear last night it was acting up with that sensor. now it doesnt seem to make a difference. AND... now its got a lot off white smoke coming out of the exhaust. It doesn't go away when the engine warms up. coolant resevoir is almost empty but radiator is full. I have never had the coolant resevoir full because PO put green in with the red and I haven't gotten around to flushing it yet. So it may or may not be using coolant, I'm not sure. When I get on the throttle the smoke increases and water starts dripping from exhaust....

Is my head gasket blown?!?!?
btw my #6 injector is reading 1 ohm and is supposed to be 12-16 ohm. so i think its just a bad injector.

#6 injector goes bad, now white smoke...

I'd love to see pics of how you're even getting access to the 6th cylinder fuel injector for inspection and testing.

I'm trying to troubleshoot a similar persistent problem. White smoke in the morning, or long parked idle sessions, but it goes away when I get it going for a mile or so.

Hasn't your CEL been flashing during this condition? If so what code comes up when you plug in an OBDii reader? I consistently get P0306 - 6th Cylinder Misfire Detected.

If the fuel injector was bad, or a wiring issue was present, would there be any other codes that would fire, to be more specific in localizing the problem?
