I came to this thread to show what it looks like to deal with a toxic customer from a small business owner’s perspective and how it creates salty vendors, higher prices, more red tape, more pop-ups checkboxes, and less lenient terms and conditions.

We are still going to go there, but if you can convince me I am wrong, I will apologize to you publicly and then ask the community how I can regain their trust.

David (Brian) ordered several parts for an LS swap including a radiator & fan shroud, power steering hose, and AC hoses.

Right away, I had to refund his AC hoses because I don’t sell hoses locally. We already discussed this, but he ordered them anyway. This is a major theme where he invites himself into your sphere and then feels entitled to waste your time and money.

He became upset when he asked to return a wiring harness, and I told him there would be credit card fees and shipping deducted from his refund.

He said if there was a restocking fee he would charge it back the difference and says he never would have bought any of my parts but he wanted to support the shop.

I try to explain how not only has this cost me all of the time helping and handling his order, but will also cost me credit card processing fees. His response: not my problem. He is going to charge back everything that I have not refunded him. I remind him of the terms and conditions under which he made the purchase. He again says those rules don’t apply to him.

He tries to turn this into a schedule issue and says it took too long. This actually his his fault as he had been calling Howell repeatedly and meddling with the order. When I received the harness, he even insisted it wasn’t his because they told him his wasn’t ready yet. Wtf?

We get into a temper tantrum at this point. He has threatened a chargeback, which for me means we are through working with each other. I offer to give him a 100% refund, no fees deducted, IF he brings me all the parts back and we part ways for good. He does not take me up on this offer as some of the parts are already installed and he does not want to have to find new parts.

At this point, he has only a radiator and PS hose left from his original order, and is still waiting on the fan shroud. I decide to terminate our relationship, tell him I cannot fulfill the rest of his order and am also refunding the shroud in addition to the harness and the AC hoses.

This is when he completely loses his sh*t.

I, too, have been privy to the background of the current “discussion” being, unfortunately, aired publicly here. I figured this guy would be smart and just move along. Because he does not have a leg to stand on. Not even a peg-leg.

And it’s a bunch of pablum; A bunch of BS that is absolutely being used in a harmful manner.

I’ve known Cam since 2004. That’s 18 years of knowing him, buying s*** from him, selling him s*** when I sold s***, wheeling with him, and being lucky enough to call him my friend and colleague in the Land Cruiser world.

In all of that time, I have never seen, heard, or experienced directly or by proxy, any of the things being discussed here. Not once. ****ing ever.

I’d like to think this thread can end now. I hope that’s the case and the OP can get on with life.

I do not believe the respect is deserved to dignify the bickering and arguing. I can acknowledge where he’s coming from, but the thing here is. I flat out just don’t care to. I started this thread omitting him from the thread, he had his pals come post, try and personally “attack me” or whatever, and give off hand accounts of whatever. He gave an explanation that omitted a lot of things in order to save face publicly. Do what you gotta do. Take what you will from reading through this. I’m not here even trying to defend myself. Because why? It doesn’t matter. If you really care to learn more, pm me if you want. At this point it’s just pure internet drama now and it’s getting pretty stale. This goes away with a click of an x on the browser, because it is not real life. It’s the internet. That said, if you get the s***s at a Taco Bell location, you’re going to tell people about that Taco Bell location. I’m assuming this is my personal vendetta or whatever.
