Are you going to offer this as a bolt-on kit?

maybe?:D if i can get some input!! lookin on toyotas parts EPC it shows a rear power takeoff? anyone ever come across one of these??
check this link to my local forum

theres a coupla youtube vid links there
basically i want to connect a second transfer( behind my cruiser box) and run a drive shaft forward to a locked front diff with a drum on one end with the cable on it??
think like the pto style they used to have but on a lot larger/faster/powerful scale??

malaysian guys were running this set up at this years outback challenge, using datsun 120 y diff, as they are cheap.

PTO shaft to pinion flange, welded diff, winch drum hooked to axle on one side, so a 3.__ to 1 step up in the PTO drive.

Some talk of them measured at 25kph on the winch cable, winching.

Holy FAWK!! that zuk winched over fast as hell! I've never seen that before.

now you see what i mean:D:D would toyota`s standard pto takeoff be able to handle that sort of abuse?

that sounds reeeeeeealy scarry. 25kph line speed?! don't get in the way of that fawker or you're toast.

i'd still run an electric winch myself.......

It really depends on the race. Some challenge events are pretty much a winch race nowadays !

I thought the rain forest ( from I ever seen ) in Italy have specific rules for the hard core sections .. something like a one try and not done, go winch .. in this way you are winching the hole track .. :frown:

NO fun !

down here we call them "winch challenges" and they are either some big mud holes or steep inclines, people use mainly hydraulic & PTO but i wanna build something that really cranks:D:D

what rig would this go in ?
I had a brain fart while thinking about this thread the other day, I think it might be a brilliant idea but I probably won't have the time to build it before long

now were thinkin!! denis has finally clicked to what im on about:D:D:cheers: so do you think its possible to put a transfer box in between the original vehicles gearbox & transfer case? like marlins toybox deal?

I think the dual case idea is the best option, as if you ran it straight off the PTO i could see that making for some really hairy extractions if you were ever in a tippy or technical spot.

So I think I have a way to clutch it. Use an open diff and put a disk brake from something small on the non spool side. Then you engage the winch and all the power would run through the disc brake side and not pull any on the line. The power you send to the winch would be directly related to how much braking you do. Seems like a good way to control it and could be done on a low budget. Something like an e-brake with the cable run to a lever would work. I'm thinking this is only a comp type thing.

Yeah, you let off the lever and bad things happen.Maybe a ratchet type style hookup for it.
