Im kinda loving this patina. I might just wax it as is and roll with it this summer.
Just don't leave exposed primer, that's not cool and might as well park it in the sea at night.

I was going to wax it or clear coat but I had a change of heart. I will paint it as soon as the weather is decent.

I've been saying that for years.
Ya but I actually will. You want to put a bet on it? I already have the paint and prep should be a breeze.

So I found the smoking gun on my glow system. Burnt out glow controller coil. A little custom coil and bam!!!! Works like a hot dam! Half of the old coil bottom right of picture. Hopefully an old rebar quick tie mild steel will hold up.

Looks like it was designed as a resistor to create a voltage drop. If the mild steel wire doesn’t have enough resistance, it could fry your glow plugs. I don’t want to be a downer on your ingenuity, but I’d hate for you to fry all your glow plugs.

Ford E350 vans have a set of resistance coils that look very similar to create the 4 different heater fan speeds. I’d try to find a resistance coil with the same or higher resistance than the original.

You may not be able to find a resistance spec, but should be able to find some sort of spec for the voltage at the glow plug while operating.

It's only a resistor so that it glows as an indicator that the plugs are hot.

You can by pass them completely as long as you count how long you're glowing for. Basically how mine is because I don't have a 12v glow light.

Turn key, count to 20, start truck. If it runs like s***, push glow button. The pre superglow start sequence.

His wire may not glow at the right time, (or hell, maybe it will) , but it's a pretty crude system so the lack of a resistor won't be a problem.

I half figured all of the above. But I will not hold the glow plugs on for long. When I first fired this engine up, I jumped the bus bar for 7 seconds and it fired up on the first crank.

Just incase ya'll missed my first start up. Idle was stuck, gave me a bit of a scare. A minor run away heart palpitation.

Cold start. 15 seconds on the glow. Prrrrrs instantaneously. I also figured out my ignition switch is faulty between start and run/ignition. 1mm to far forward or back kicks on the glow plugs.. This is the way it was designed but my ignition is shorting out between the two positions somehow? Which has led to the glow plugs staying on, frying the glow control coil indicator. Tomorrow is another day.

When driving and the B’s warmed up, when the gauge reads that low but it’s not low enough to shut the EDIC off this is how much cam bearing you have left.

Once I test drive it and try to get the bugs out. I might pull the motor out to do the cam and bottom end bearings if needed?

Well I re-sealed the roof and gutters. Added some paint and it looks decent. I will post a picture later.

I saw this and thought it would be perfect for you…

But it sold before I could post it. Asking price $65. For that price we could have a club paint booth to pass around.

Something similar would be good for the summer paint jobs. A few filters and a fan to keep the air going out and fresh.

Yes this could be very useful. Pretty nasty looking but cheap. Too bad its gone. The pollen in the air is brutal right now and I can feel it on my roof after painting it.

Of course I suck at photography and my Iphone is probably 5 years older that yours.

Looks great to me. But then again, I can't even afford an iphone, lol.

Looks like time to build a blue room (or white tarps).

You can knock up a hippie shack pretty quickly and cheap with a few 2x4 and some clear plastic sheet.

Used to do it for boat paint jobs.

Don't go too crazy with the screws and the 2x are still good for the house project later.

Helps justify it to swmbo. " I'm just using them for a couple days before I build you the Imelda shoe closet dear" 🤣
