Does it significantly shorten the life of the tire?


Also, found a front bumper I'd buy TJM T17. Nice and simple and ................ discontinued years ago. :crybaby:

That stinks. good looking bumper, too. They had a very simple 80 series TJM winch bumper for ~$600 that was discontinued, as well.

Pritchett broke me off. Which is funny because the sign recommended 33s, a rear locker, and a winch! Lol

"Unless you drive a buggy or some other extreme 4x4 vehicle, Pritchett Canyon is just about the most difficult trail you can do in the Moab area. It requires a lifted vehicle with at least 33" tires, lockers, a decent gear ratio, and preferably a winch. Most vehicles will need to strap or winch themselves over at least one obstacle, and many will break something on the trail."

I guess "minimum" is the key word.

Tire size is relevant to wheelbase and belly clearance. And FJ40 or a wrangler could get through there on 33's-- a 6,000 pound SUV with 112 inch wheelbase and low hanging parts won't :) Careful what you wish for though, the adversity makes the adventure. I had a rig on 37's that I drove through everything with one finger while watching everyone else have all the fun. Took all the excitement out of things. Went back to a smaller rig because there were more trails to challenge myself.

37's aren't that big. They're the new 35.
I'm on 37's and I'm usually the one w/ the smallest tires of my group that I wheel w/.
My opinion is that 37 is one of the best all around sizes.
 
37's just mean you find harder lines take ;)

Bigger tires would help a lot with clearance, even the slightest bit would. I understand about having a rig with smaller tires and having more of a challenge, but I also didn't like working on it every other weekend after beating on it.

I'll take my wheelbase any day over that of a Wrangler or 40. The stability is that much better, and a think the small wheelbase would hurt more in Moab with multiple ledges in a row.
 
It all depends on where or what your wheeling in. Tight spaces and sharp turns are hell on LWB vehicles, ledges and rock spacing can go either way. At the end of the day pick something you like to drive and pick your poison. For most of what I like to do around 100" and 37's work pretty good. Haven't been to Moab though.
 
Didn't go wheeling today since I feel like poop, but did lay on the couch and watch "Dust to Glory" ........twice. You were right Luke, badass movie.

Baja used to be on my "If I ever win the Lotto..." list, but now it's just moved up to my "MUST DO BEFORE I DIE!!!" list.

Time to start learnin' some Spanish...
 
Saw another web story about the possibility of the Ford Bronco coming back. The pictures in the article are pretty sweet! Dash almost looks a bit FJ40ish with the pull knobs. http://bestcarsof2015.com/2016-ford-bronco/

That's going around on Facebook again too. The new Bronco Looks crazy cool, but I'll believe it when I see it. Ford has historically never done anything "risky" or "exciting". However, they might have a brilliant marketing plan-- waiting until Chrysler drops out of competition in 2016 when they ruin the Wrangler with IFS/IRS-- and now that the FJ Cruiser is gone forever... waiting for a 2016 release could be the most brilliant marketing strategy ever. They would be filling two gaps. We will see. I wouldl welcome another serious 4x4 to the market for sure.
 
Well hopefully they don't ruin the Wrangler. Havent been hearing the IFS rumors recently. I do know it will retain body on frame construction, and will be made with an aluminum body for weight savings.
