Axle nut stuck.

I don't see how it could be stuck unless it's cross threaded on the spindle. If you're sure that all the lock tabs are bent back, there isn't much else in the way.

Part of the problem might be the cheap socket, if it's rounding at the corners.

I would go impact over a cheater bar to make sure it turns concentrically. You don't have much to loose now, that nut has to come off even if it wrecks the spindle in the process.

Good luck and post up the resolution.

Craftsman socket and 3/4 breakover bar. Pass side came loose with leverage on cheater bar. Driverside took two tries I I lifed so much I thought I was going to lift it off the jack stand but it finally gave and then it twist off easy. That is a lot of torque from whoever put it on.

CONGRATULATIONS !!!

They must've locked it with an impact.... Air tools are your friend :D

The inside nut was fine. It was the amount they loaded the outside locking nut.

overkill is an understatement congrats on the freedom

this is a very intresting problem to say the least. You say the threads look fine, from what you can see on the exposed part of the spindle? I dont know why anyone would use loctite on that nut becayse it has a locking tab ring. Which I think is way better IMO. Jeeps use loctite, or cotter pins, which it seems you cannot use twice, no matter how careful you are.

I love to put heat to things that are stuck. It works very well for me.
Isint the tourqe on the outter nut only like 50 some foot pounds? I have alwayse been able to take mine off with a regular rachet.

I have the toyota special sevice tool, the 54mm socket from SPX or OTC. Its a very nice tool and has never let me down. Every cruiser head sould have one.

I believe it also works on most toyota truck stuff up to atleast 1995. I have used it on 4runner IFS systems and pickup solid axles. So if your a toyota nut, its a very handy tool to have around.

Hope this turns out all right for you.
:wrench:
