Isolated: no spark

A simple, relatively safe way to check for spark is to use a screwdriver in a spark plug lead, setup so that it can be seen though the crack in the hood. Position the screwdriver close enough to something metal that it will be able to spark, but high enough you can see it from the cab in some kind of contorted position.

Dizzy cap, rotor, plugs & wires are in good shape. All are Mr T parts and roughly 7500 miles / 3 years old.

Line going from coil to dizzy is not sparking.

Then likely igniter failure.
Possible distributor pick up coil failure, but I would bet on the igniter.

When your Ignitor went south did your truck exhibit any signs before complete failure?

The first time I had intermittent stalling, then fine for a day or 2 then done.
The second time I was driving and she just shut down. Done.

New ignitor + coil. Still no spark.

What next? This is now reaching a new level of frustrating.

Dizzy was terrible inside.

Did you check the simple things first, like the condition of the cap/rotor?
So the answer would be "no".
You've got a real s***-show going on in there. At the very least, the rotor and cap are done and there is horrible corrosion on the pick up coils. Follow the FSM and make sure they are still within spec. If not, you'll have to source a replacement distributor. Any 3FE will work. Same part number for FJ62 and FJ80.
I also don't see the bottom o-ring that sits in the groove in the housing. Make sure you replace that if it is compromised. That could have been the issue from the get-go.

No OEM's available. What is the general consensus on eBay dizzy? Better or worse than anything else in the aftermarket?!?!

Have you checked with Jason at Cruiseryard @arcteryx?
I also see 2 62s and 2 91 80s being parted out in the classifieds.

I emailed Jason on Thursday, he hasn't responded yet. I'll give him through today before calling and emailing again.

Think a used OEM would out last an aftermarket new?

That's a tough question to answer without seeing the unit. If the rotor shaft bearing is good, the seal is good, and there is no sign of corrosion in the housing, then chances are that it will last a long time. Make sure to check the coils for spec before installing.

Found a new Beck Arnley shipped for $60. Heard decent things about their quality so that's where I'm headed. Will purchase a used OEM as a spare.

My search function reverts to 1997 due to saved cookies, but they are available for 1992 too. Beno can hook him up.
