Getting Slee rear bumper with spare tire carrier for 03 100. Thinking about aux gas tank. Any suggestions? How about H2O tank?

Tks

Longranger. Talks to both, if you can get one and the ancillary parts and pieces.

There are also companies that make water bladders that fit inside the rear quarter panles.
Flexi Tank

If you have a charcoal canister over the spare, it will likely need to be custom or modified. I believe the Flexi tank was design for 100's w/o rear AC.

I am in the same boat....I have not found a tank that was designed to work with the canister.

Not sure how they work with the canister, but Front Runner tanks from Equipt are another option.

To answer the Monkey's question, the Front Runner tanks have the same issues with the charcoal canister above the spare. I have one sitting in my garage and have been measuring and making drawings to see how much of it I will have to cut away to make room for the offending item. My welding skills are not too bad but i aint no pro welder. not sure I trust me on this job.

Although I am still pondering the situation, I will most likely not modify the tank. Unfortunately I was unaware of the canister issue prior to purchasing the unit. I will most likely get a roof rack and a few of those expedition grade jerry cans. :crybaby:

Has anyone modified a tank to fit and 03 or newer with the canister?

If you can't modify the tank...can the canister be relocated? Anyone tried? I would really rather not have a bunch of gas in tanks on the truck. Not neccessarily for safety reasons but right now they are a sure draw to those that would like some "free" gas.

What's that canister used for? Is it really needed? If not, take it off and toss it !

Charcoal canister isn't going to keep me from running a Front Runner auxillary fuel cell !!

Yeah I thought of that myself..... Gas cans full of gas is begging to be stolen at the price of fuel these days!!!

I am even thinking of filling the 15 or so 5 gallon plastic jerry cans I have currently at these prices so I can save money in a couple of weeks by using todays priced gas!

:D

Umm... there must be no emissions testing in Texas. In CA, removing this is a fast ticket to failing smog and therefore not getting your vehicle registration, i.e. it is illegal to remove it. And if you're still under warranty, it's also a fast way to voiding that...

For those reasons I think leaving it in place makes the most sense.

On my 40 the gas tank vents to the charcoal canister, the condensation from the cannister is routed back to the fuel tank. I assume it serves a similar function on the 100 series. My guess is if you just toss it you will start getting gas fume smells inside the rig.

Ok so relocation is necessary....... On my 40 I had those fumes long before I parked it and didn't know why. I am going to eventually replace the whole fuel system anyway - tank, lines etc when the resto comes into play.

Front Runner 45 gallon Aux tanks are currently on sale at Camping Labs...

$800 and free shipping!

AFAIK, these will only fit 98-02 because of the location of the charcoal canister on the '03+.
