The FJ62 was launched worldwide (except in North America) on 10/84, that's when the 3F (carburated) replaced the 2F in most markets. At the time, FJ62's still had round headlights and the square dash, but the 3F was available with an automatic transmission in both the 60 and 70 series and some ammenities like power windows/mirrors/locks also became available at the same time.

The square headlights became standard in 10/87 on the 60 series, although some markets held on to the round headlights for another year.

In the US market, the 1987-model of 60 series was still an FJ60, with a carburated 2F, 4-speed, round headlights and the square dash. The following year it was replaced with an FJ62 with an EFI 3FE, auto tranny, square headlights and the rounded dash. Most people associate *all* of these changes with the change of designation, but it *only* refers to the motor.

Thanks, Exiled.

So, some markets (South America?) got round headlight FJ62s even as late as the 1988 model year?

Andrew

That is correct.
