Hello All,

Over the weekend it snowed a lot here and as I went in to 4x4 I noticed that my front hubs were no longer locking. I took them apart and confirmed that the electronics are dead and permanently locked my hubs following this YouTube video. The only issue with the video is you need a T30 not T40, for my truck.

I'd like to now replace the old auto hubs that don't work with manual hubs but can't seem to find a replacement.

Has anyone else replaced theirs?

I have a JDM, 91 Prado
LJ78
engine - 2LTE, 4 cylinder

Just did this on an HZJ77. This is what the outcome will look like.

I'm probably wrong, but on an LJ78 you either need a spacer or a manual hub with the spacer built in. there is only one I've seen and it's an ADM Not as pretty and not as robust as the aisin that beno has from what I understand.

Or get the correct parts to do the conversion and not mess around with spacers and the like.

Do what Beno did.

Keep an eye out for a 79-85 Toyota mini truck/4Runner front axle. Get one as complete as possible. Should cost between 250-500 (Canadian funds).

Rob the steering knuckles, spindles and freewheel hubs. Time it around the time you decide to rebuild your front axle to save money and time.

Sell off the striped axle for 100-150. Sell off your one working hub for 100(?) sell off the mini truck birfs for 25-50 bucks a piece. You will be money ahead and have a stronger set up than anything else out there.

I did this exact thing on mine as well. Never looked back.

ive got these on mine they work mint

I can second these, installed on my lj78 when the electrics failed me. These are real easy to install and as i had a few questions about the set up prior to buying them, called and talked though the system he offers great support and a quick turn around on them.

We (Cruiser Outfitters) have the hub spacers as well as the preferred method which is complete replacement spindle/hub body using all new components. In stock and ready to ship as soon as tomorrow :D

A chap here in my home town who is an aircraft engineer made a transition plate to fit asian end caps on to the electric hub body, worked just fine.

Just picked up my LJ78 yesterday and I'm afraid auto hubs are shot. Will toyota old blue free wheel conversion ship to the us? Or cruiseroutfit how much are your hubs? Might try locking them in full time like above video until I can just replace them

I have shipped to overseas from NZ but the cost has to be weighed up against buy locally , as mine are to modify your own hubs

So I ordered some replacement aisin manual hubs. What other parts are necessary to do conversion?

Did you order the hubs from us? (Cruiser Outfitters?), if so they would have offered you a conversion guide with part numbers, etc. There are a couple ways to do it but we only offer some of those as a kit with the hubs, etc.

What part number Aisin did you order? There are a dozen that will fit and a handful that won't.
