I recently bought an Aussie locker and a perfect condition 3rd replacement. It looks as if wheeling is probably going to take a big backseat with the lack of time on my hands coming up. I do want a locker in my 62 but wanted everyones opinion. Since my 62 will most likely be driven around town for the most part (1-2 days a week) do y'all think the aussie will be more of a hinderence with the clicking/clunking than keeping it open and waiting on the $ for an air locker??? Who has an Aussie that is mostly DD? Are they that noisy? Thanks

I don't know much about lockers yet, but if you decide to go air, let me know about the aussie...

I have a Lockrite in the back of my Pig and I rarely can tell its back there.

I would love to have an ARB up front but have to wait b/c of the $.

I would wait on an ARB if you can do it and put one up front at the same time.

Some posts talk about the manual transmissions being more noticeable than auto's. Do you notice more when you are disengaging the clutch than on a turn where you don't clutch?

i had a ez in my zj for 2 years w/ a auto and it was really something to get used to. It made noises and pulled the tires in parking lots.. It is a world of difference in the woods. It really never got on my nerves but i was 22-25 years old.. If it was me i would wait for a selective locker.

The only time I notice it is if I have my front wheels turned to lock, I'm moving slow (pulling away from a parking spot or into a road) and I give it some juice. If there is sand or water on the road I am more likely to notice it....but most of the time I don't know its there. I'm also driving a truck that makes me feel many other bumps so a 62, 80, or something on coils might make it more noticeable. I do notice it off road where it rocks.

John honestly I'd wait. Not as if the club goes to a lot of places where you will need it. And if you do there is always someone around that can strap you. Plus if you plan on driving the cruiser on snow and ice you will hate yourself for having that locker. My locker takes a lot to get used to. It will release going down the road and you will swear you broke something. Also when accelerating the vehicle has a tendancy to swerve to one side.

Just wait a good deal will come around.

I can probably get you an air locker on this next shipment if you want. After shipping and customs it's probably going to be close to 600. That includes the air compressor. I'd need to know this week though.

x2 on waiting...

I'm waiting on a full floating rear to pop up for sale at a decent price.

You know you could put an 80 e-axle in the back.

This basically sums up my opinion, but im out of that age range now and it does aggravate me. I think having an auto makes it worse. Offroad they are awesome, onroad they take getting used to.

I appreciate the input. Think I'm gonna wait a bit and go w/ an air locker. Probably put the Aussie for sale. PM me if anyone is interested in it. New in box. Thanks.

Now we are getting off topic but Marshall, how much for a front and rear air locker set up for the Pig, compressor, lockers... everything.

Around +/- 600 a locker. That would include the compressor and most likely getting it here.

marshall,
I sent you a pm. I need an arb for my front of my 77fj40. I have one in the rear and the compressor already. Let me know!

Sounds good. Just let me know and I will send you the $$. I am def in for one as long as its in that ballpark you said.
