Still gotta take out the rear LPgas tank, and move the rear diff back 10 1/2 inches, and start coiling it but ive only been workin on it for approx 3 days, inbetween doing the paying jobs that come through the door:rolleyes:

Hope to give updates soon!

Cammo

and Brendan pull ya finger out!!! :D:D

crossmember for the J80 gearbox is made, removed the rear diff and suspension, and have started to make up the plates and rear crossmember that will have the J80 front spring top retainer plates bolted on, (yes 80 series front springs in the rear), cut all the required brakets of the wreaked 80 for the lower control arm mounts, and have mocked up the diff for dumbie fit, will fully weld all the brackets after im happy with everything, the diff will be set back 10inches from standard to increase the tailshaft lengh.
Also scored a set of 38/12.5x15 TSL swampers, so the rear 1/4's will have to be attacked with the clearance tool ;)

will get some pics up soon,

Cheers Cammo

Need to get some 80 tailshafts to chop up, and massage the 80 lower control arm brackets to fit on the 40 chassis, using standard lenth lower arms with the rubber bushes, and triangulated adjustable upper arms with rose joints, so no need for a panard rod.
Anty feed back would be great (It was this site that got me motivated in the first place, LOL)
Cheers Cammo

Been doing a few late nights on the 40, afterhours when I dont have people/customers walking in to distract me, Got all the wiring for the EFI sorted out and grafted into the 40 loom, had the anti-theft control taken out of the delco computer check and double checked all the wiring again, hooked up the starter cable, turned the key and..........nothing:confused:, went through all the pins on the ECU, found one without power, bridged a 12v supply over to it and she runs.. since found out that this wire is for central locking relay and only gets power when you remotely unlock the car.

But she runs, need to build the exhaust, and tidy a few things up, then back on the road she goes..

It hasnt changed much so when it looks better i'll post some more pics

Cheers Cammo

Well it had its first drive, down to the exhaust joint with only 4inches of pipe bolted to the manifolds. :D, drives really well with the fulltime 4wd, abit more body roll with the coils but... just need to lift the front an extra 2 inches to suit now as the steering was out.. Been 2 years since it was last on the road!!! Dam it felt good to be behind the wheel again..

List of things to still do
1 - Wire up the CDL, anyone know how to hard wire these??
2 - Rework the front springs,
3 - Tidy up all wiring and mount the ECU in glovebox
4 - Shape and flare rear wheel arches

Cheers Cammo

was to suit a early mustang 68ish I think, had the bottom neak cut and rotated and the mounting tabs tig welded on, the cruiser mount has been widened by 2inches to suit, but still fits inside the guards (fenders), from memory it 22 by 19 inches, best part was it only cost me $200 aussie, a stock standard fj40 radiator costs approx $420 over here...

Now just wanna do a spring over and shackle reversal in the front, and should flex really well,

Ive been driving it for the last week, afew minor things to fix,

Centre diff needs a part time 4wd kit, - ATM free wheeling hubs and full time 4wd, the CD rattles when cruising in 4th and 5th.

Clean up and secure the wiring abit more, and fit some LED reverse lights.

Rubber flare and extend the rear wheel arches and rear mudflaps.

re-build the rollcage, would like something like the metaltech profile cage with the rear hoops to suit my soft top.

finish building the reserve air tank for my arb air locker/ tyre inflation

and a lifetime of other small bits and pieces that goes with owning a 40....

Cammo

Build lookes great. I'm doing somthing very similar and I'm up t rear shocks and shock placement. What length (shock) did you use to get that wheel travel. I don't want to go through my body but I may have to to get the travel I want (~6 up 10 down). Thanks
