I used the 60 bucket to start with. The clutch and brake are all part of one piece in the 60, and they are too close together to use in the 80. I cut the clutch portion off and welded in a little bracing, but I knew it was too weak when I did it. The 80 uses two separate pieces, I could order them but it would be $200. Once I get the pattern figured out it shouldn't be too hard to make them out of some 1/8" plate.

just noticed your sig line...have you had aussie locker for a while? if so what's your experience with them (on and off road)

You run aussie lockers in the front and back on full time 4wd?

With the split case I am part time 4wd now, that is why I installed the Aussie in the front. I have run the aussie in the rear for a couple of years now, it was not at all noticeable when I was full time 4wd. Now I notice it a little on road, especially with the manual, but not enough to consider taking it out. Offroad it is awesome, night and day difference. I haven't tested the front yet offroad.

I'm not going to make it this weekend... I'm stuck down at the gulf and will be for the next ten days or so.

OK... If anyone else is going to be a no-show let me know. I plan to still go if others are in.

I'm ok with whatever time works for others. Jack's works for me as I will drive over from Cullman.
I'm ok with 9:00 if you guys want to do another time post up...or I'll be down there at 9:00 AM unless its raining like hell and I suspect the park will not be open?

So it looks like Elbert and I are the only two going. We will be at the jacks at exit 299 at 9:00 and will probably wait around for a few minutes in case anyone shows up that didn't post in here.

good ride in the "heat wave" this date in Cullman county. After driving your truck in the parking lot I would have to say the aussie lockers are not that noticeable, which is good. I just wonder if they transmit more issues with a truck that is just a leaf spring setup like the 60 as opposed to the coil sprng setup of the 80. I know when I had the powertrax no slip locker in the rear differential of my truck..you could feel it every time you shifted gears, and it felt like the rear end wanted to torque steer to the right, also was really bad at ratcheting on hard surfaces at slow speed. Incredible assest offroad though.

Really debating going back with Powertrax in the rear differential and mayb ARB air locker on the front .

THe auburn limited slips work ok..but you have to be moving and you have to be under power.

It was just Elbert and me out there, but I had fun. Both of our trucks were popping out of 4wd, it makes it interesting when you are halfway up a hill and then "pop" and you start spinning. When I could keep it in 4wd the new front locker made it almost too easy. This was my first trip out since the manual swap and I couldn't be happier with it. The lower gearing makes hill climbs that I dreaded before actually fun now, and the ability to engine brake downhill makes all the difference in the world on trails like these. We found some new stuff that was a little harder, and as I expected some of the dirt on the trails is washing away and some rocks are showing up. Here are some pics from the easy dirt trails. There were a few like this at the back of the park that didn't look they have been traveled much lately. image003.jpg

And here are some trails that we didn't take. Some of these are so steep that I probably wouldn't try, most I would but not with the 4wd popping out like it was.

not going to try these two:

definitely want to run this one, it is steeper than it looks in the photo:

this is the start of what looks like a long, steep, winding trail on the map at the back of the rockcrawler area. It was too hot to climb up on foot and scout where this went.

I'd try coming had there not been an event down here. The rocks on the side, are you allowed to get off the trail and hop on them?
