Don't know if this has been covered before or not.
I was cleaning up some parts for my 87 resto and came to the Flash Gordon raygun looking part from the intake manifold.
As I started reaming tons of resin junk out with a wire I noticed the little vacuum nipple was completely clogged shut and tight. I had another from a parts truck and found it was clogged shut as well.
I soaked it in laquer thinner for a while and it took some work with some small pieces of brass wire to get it unclogged.
I believe it connects to a vsv with vaccum lines and goes to the carburetor for the a/c kickup possibly?
Being clogged shut can't possibly be helping matters.:bang:

Yes, thats a common problem... I usually heat it with a torch a bit and the carbon deposits will melt out.... better check your pcv connection on the intake... they usually get carboned up as well...

What/where could a guy find that raygun lookin thing?

What/where could a guy find that raygun lookin thing?

It is located on the intake manifold between the carb and the firewall.

Someone posted a sweet Toyota parts diagram of it in the system but for the life of me I can't find the thread.

When that thing clogs up, it can affect the vacuum supply for the brake booster. I'll feel like the booster has failed but is easy to fix by cleaning out the crud.
