Atf leaking from Toyota split transfer case in fj60 with vortec and auto swap

@lcwizard are you referring to the Advanced Adapter? So I wouldn't have to replace a seal in the tranny? I just drained the transfer case and it was filled at least a quart or 2 past the fill hole. So fluid is for sure migrating from the tranny to the transfer. I'm just hoping the gear oil didn't migrate into the tranny. I have to get 500 miles back to Pennsylvania to have the facility to drop the case and tackle that job. Right now I'm working in front of my apartment near Boston. I might fill everything back up with atf in order to get back to Pennsylvania and tear it down and fix the seal.

I would suggest pulling the TC off as Dave suggested.. It is pretty easy.
Once off put the TC on the ground with the adapter up in the air and fill it with Tranny fluid. This will help you determine if the AA bearing is sipping oil through. I have never seen this happened either, but anything is possible. Early AA had holes drilled out for no reason. I know this cause early after my swap I was leaking tranny fluid, but did not know where from. It turned out to be a threaded hole in the adapter.. Once I put a bolt in it the leak stopped. This might not be the case with your adapter, but is worth ruling out. It this is the case that means you will have to pull that TC apart. The bearing in question goes for $100 plus if I remember correctly..

I remember seeing a liitle vent tube on the top of the 4l60e... could this clog and force fluid into the tcase?

Iwould also second lcwizards advice about dipstick variants and fluid level. if you drop the trans pan, mark the dipstick level with the the sealing surface of the pan/trans. that is FULL...

As @MANUCHAO says,( if I understand right) there are some years that have an extra mounting hole under the input gear. I don't remember
whether all AA kits were set up for this or not. In the event the case has this hole and the adapter doesn't have a captive for it, instructions stated to thread and install a pipe plug to keep oil from transferring between the two
