I have noticed my transmission stick starting to brown. At the moment the transmission runs fine and hasn't caused me issues but would it be a better idea to do a flush out of the transmission or just a drain and fill. I noticed that 15 liters for the ATF fluid but that sounds more like a full flush. How many liters would it be for a drain and fill?

Without knowing what transmission you have no one will ever know your fluid capacity, including you.

I see. In this case a drain and refill will only yield you a little over a gallon, which is completely inadequate. The valve body and torque converter will hold the majority of the fluid away. A powered flush using the truck's own pump is the way to go here. Check out my write up here.

What's the size part measurements for drain tube that you used?

Its been a while but I think it was half inch. Also I don't think I explained it well but you want to have your outlet drain coming out of the radiator, this way you can be sure that you are purging out the entire system, including the cooler portion.

Cheers!

If you can find someone with a transmission fluid exchange machine (BG is probably the most common brand), you can probably get them to exchange all the fluid for less than $200. I think I paid around $90 the last time but I was having some other stuff done at the same time. Yes you can do it yourself but I find it to be a messy job; or at least it can be.
