I have a 75 FJ40 2F. It used to be smogged, but underwent a desmog by the previous owner. All of the items were left in place for appearance sake I believe.
The EGR cooler has a corrosion hole in it.
Other items seem to be OK with the exception of the EGR pipe which has been cut, crimped, and welded.
I looked at the air injection rail and it appears OK.
I am assuming the other parts are OK (yes, it might make an ass out of me later).
I am in TX but not in an area that does the tailpipe sniffer, etc. It passed inspection prior to me tearing it down for a rebuild.
Would there be any value to re-smogging this as I rebuild the engine?
Easiest would be de-smog.
I am not really concerned about HP decreases with smog as I am not racing the thing.
Give me some opinions. I am waffling 50/50.
