dangers of costco runs, just a part of that GXOR life

lol but DD is amazing they're sending me replacements not sure what happened but it looked like the gasket failed on the connector and let a bunch of water in there.

also got some perry bump stops coming in so hopefully will install those soon with pics for anyone interested

Mine are in the garage have been for a couple of months. What is hopefully the last of the snow melted last week so they are on the to do list. With a bunch of other things and ordered something else today during lunch. The madness will cease, eventually LOL.

got the replacement fogs back in redid my wiring and actually taped up heat shrunk the connectors as well so should hopefully be less prone to water intrusion

Curious if anyone has insight on doing the big 3? I have some spare 0 gauge wire and thinking about it.

haven’t gotten around to doing anything on the GX lately but we took this holiday to start the raptor liner process on my brothers xterra

Gas mileage will suck if you do it. And forget about ever being able to wipe it down with a damp rag. The only thing that'll clean that now is a pressure washer or hose.
Some things look really cool till you look at the practicality of them. But that's just my opinion. If I had a beater exoskeleton rock crawler trail rig, yeah, I may do it.
I've see some do the belt line and downward, which I can see helping with trail rash a little.

Centerpunch the broken bolt in the center before you try to drill it. If you drill off center or crooked its hard to correct. If the broken ens is too uneven to drill accurately, grind it flatter with a dremel. If you can find left handed drill bits they sometimes loosen the bolt as you're drilling.

The usual hardware store screw exxtractors with the tapered helix head are brittle and very easy to snap off in the bolt. Then you're really in trouble. I turn them with a tap wrench on the square end. Use lots of penetrating lube.

Just to add, make sure you use drill bits for hardened steel and cutting oil when drilling. Spend the extra couple clams for the better drill bit. It'll be cheaper in the end.

yep well i broke off the bit from the harbor freight extractor set, ( i really shouldnt have trusted it) in the first stud, and called it a night last night.

Going back to home depot to find some cobalt bits and try again tonight

Yep. Bits matter. Just today I had to watch a crew drill 3 of 5 drawers in a Hamilton Class 6 safe. Their carbide bits cost over $50 each. Consumables in their line of work.

Update: success on the passemger side, was trying to extract the bolt but it didn’t work out that way. ended up stepping up drill bits pretty much maxing out at the biggest and somehow the threads remained intact because i was able to thread in the new bump stop and it’s seems pretty solid.

the hole is a bit oblong so i think maybe an 1/8 of the hole doesn’t have threads but it had enough to catch and not allow me to wiggle it after tightening

these milwaukee bits were amazing not a single one broke the step bits helped as well.

Warrior extractor set drill bits are complete trash please no one try them
