Gas mileage will suck if you do it. And forget about ever being able to wipe it down with a damp rag. The only thing that'll clean that now is a pressure washer or hose.really digging how it came out debating doing the GX as well

that makes me want to be even more anti-Lexus and do it lolGas mileage will suck if you do it. And forget about ever being able to wipe it down with a damp rag. The only thing that'll clean that now is a pressure washer or hose.
Some things look really cool till you look at the practicality of them. But that's just my opinion. If I had a beater exoskeleton rock crawler trail rig, yeah, I may do it.
I've see some do the belt line and downward, which I can see helping with trail rash a little.
Why not go big? MIL-PRF-24667 does the trick and will last longer. Great for breaking in a new pair of jeans doing Hazzard-style hood slides...but not really.that makes me want to be even more anti-Lexus and do it lol
Just to add, make sure you use drill bits for hardened steel and cutting oil when drilling. Spend the extra couple clams for the better drill bit. It'll be cheaper in the end.Centerpunch the broken bolt in the center before you try to drill it. If you drill off center or crooked its hard to correct. If the broken ens is too uneven to drill accurately, grind it flatter with a dremel. If you can find left handed drill bits they sometimes loosen the bolt as you're drilling.
The usual hardware store screw exxtractors with the tapered helix head are brittle and very easy to snap off in the bolt. Then you're really in trouble. I turn them with a tap wrench on the square end. Use lots of penetrating lube.
Yep. Bits matter. Just today I had to watch a crew drill 3 of 5 drawers in a Hamilton Class 6 safe. Their carbide bits cost over $50 each. Consumables in their line of work.Just to add, make sure you use drill bits for hardened steel and cutting oil when drilling. Spend the extra couple clams for the better drill bit.
