I did the same! What did you use, and what clear did you use on them? Mine are already starting to fade a little haha.
i did some red lens spray i don’t remember which but the clear is what really makes them pop i used 2k clear it’s like $20 or $30 a can i think but it’s definitely worth it because it can really turn the whole job around

look what came in the mail finally i ordered this on amayama about a month hoping it’s the right one and i think it is after the first one i ordered turned out to be the longer version

76810-60131 for anyone interested

If you use the thick 3M double sided tape you should be fine.
See if you can find an all-weather tape.
Also, not knowing how the tabs are, can you epoxy any screws to the panel that align with the holes in your door? Then you can just screw it on.

that’s not a bad idea, will def try something like that i hadn’t thought of that so thanks for the idea hopefully next few days the rain lets up so i can try and check it out

got bored and have been wanting to go bronze wheels so did what i do best and continued to ruin my luxury vehicle by spray painting the wheels. i only got the fronts done because it got way to cold for the paint to dry. hopefully will finish the rears this week and post a completed pic. i’m hoping the gray goes with the bronze

They look really good! 👍
Are you spraying a clear coat to help keep them from chipping?

disappointed with the outcome, it was way too humid and the rears ended up coming out a different shade. that’s what i get for my lack of patience. so next warming day ill have to redo the rears but the fronts came out exactly as i wanted

Matching is a pain. Fronts do look great as you said. I'm a big fan of utilizing factory wheels and will be doing my own soon (once a color is decided). Good luck on the rears!

i figured out what the issue was, it looks like dust from the clear didn’t ventilate out enough since i had the doors closed because it was raining. so essentially i cleared over clearcoat dust lol.

Def will be redoing it in the next couple of weeks

Used to have that happen when I air sprayed surfboards and it was raining out. Had to close all the doors and had no other ventilation at the time so dust form the previous color would sometimes settle on what I was spraying.

I was on Marketplace looking for black factory wheels but now I'm on the paint train! What spay paint did you use? I'm wanting black but going back and forth between matt or gloss.

i would def go matte and i usually go with Krylon line
for clear 2K from Amazon

any pre-treatment required? my wheels are chrome

my way of doing it (YMMV)

i just clean them as best i can try to get as much brake dust off as i can then scuff them then up with a scotchbrite pad wipe all the dust off and start painting after ensuring everything is taped off and covered including TPMS

this experience comes from years of painting wheels on my previous Integras, 240’s, 4Runner and my old GS300.

I’ve never had a issue with paint chipping or anything like that and this is literally the first time i’ve owned a garage to do them in. im usually doing it outside which is why i didn’t realize my mistake with having the door closed

not to be that guy but i had the bronze pro wheels before they came out with the wheels already painted bronze 😂

Just before painting, wipe the ENTIRE wheel off with IPA (alcohol, not the beer) with a very clean lint free rag.
That'll get rid of any residue from soap, hand oils, etc.
