Can somebody tell me if these are 31s? Maybe it is a Mudder's. They look pretty small...Looking for tires for the 40 series, just love the stock look of this rig. I thought I wanted to get 33x10.5 but now im not too sure. Dad wants to go smaller I think too. thx

I assume so, 31” BFG’s older type Mud Terrains + 2.5” OME lift.

BFG KM3 just came out this year. The size 7.5X16 equates to a 32x8.5. That is what I put on my rig just a few months ago. Love them. Ride quiet and look good, tall and skinny.

I will second the KM3 in 7.5R16, if you don’t mind moving to a 16” wheel. There are a lot of tall skinny options in a 16” wheel that equate to a roughly 32-33 inch tire (mostly metric, 235/85R16) Because they’re thin, the can fit up in the wheel well in the rear without conflict on the fenders.

For comparison, here is my truck with 31x10.5 R15 (stock springs, slightly longer shackles, 15x8 inch wheels):

Vs. the same springs and shackles with 7.5R16 KM3’s on 16x5.5” wheels:

Keep in mind that BFG measure small. My 33x10.50R15s that have no significant wear are 32" tall. Some other manufacturers have tires that meet their heights. For comparing tire sizes I use https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...KO2RWLV2&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes
On paper they are 32.5... but by on the truck they measure at less than that.

31s will give you a 10% overdrive... and still look stock. For OEM rims, narrower would be ideal. 33s will need lift and/or trimming

Bwalker, are those fjc rims? Did you need spacers? I like that look! Nicely done.....

No I found some cheap 16 x 6 steel wheels with 3.5 inch backspace. Vision 40sm-6683 5 wheels delivered to my house for $150. I had to grind the front calipers a little bit to get clearance, rear calipers cleared, no grinding. They come in silver, I scuffed and painted rustoleum dark machine gray.

40 steel wheel good low cost option

RWberinger what 16”wheels are those on the skinny km3s? Look just like the stock 15s (aside from the black). Will they fit 79’ disc brakes? How about the hub caps? Look stock also...

Seems like a pretty ideal size:)

Great feed back! everybody likes taking tires right?

They are actually exact replicas of the OEM 15” steel wheels reproduced in 16” by City Racer here on MUD (Racer65). Pricey, but awesome.

They are welded (not riveted) so should fit the late model disc brakes. My truck actually runs FJ60 front discs/knuckles and Monte Carlo disc brakes in the rear and I have no issues with clearance.

They come powder coated black so I figured I would leave them that way until I sent them up enough to repaint them gray. Oddly, even OEM Toyota 15” wheels (still available) also ship in black, not gray.
