Hey guys title pretty much sums it up but does anyone have any experience removing ARB lockers like just pulling the 3rds without breaking any of the internals?

So why I ask is I might need some help doing this because I really don't wanna screw up lol. My dad and me are swapping 3rds I'm running 4.88s and gonna switch to 4.11s. He's planning on coming out mid October and doing helping me but I really want to surprise him by getting this all done and have the 60 in good running shape to pick him and my mom up from the airport as a hey surprise it's done now you can just hang out with the grand kids kind of trip.

I'd post up in the 60 thread but I know he's on there lol

While i've never pulled a third on a 60 i've pulled a front and rear on an 80 with ARB's and 4.88 gears.

Came out like a stock one did... just be careful when pulling it out and you should be fine.

I assume you are asking about just getting the 3rds out so you can send them somewhere to have the re-gear done?

If you are asking how to take the arb out of the 3rd that I can't help you with...

No I'm just switching 3rds one set has the ARBs and 4.88s with the other set of 3rds has 4.11s. I guess I got a confused with some of the install threads guys saying be carful of the airs lines just wanted to make sure I done break anything

well you do want to be careful but there isn't any extra step I can think of to pull out a third with an ARB on it.

Although i'd ask why you are going from a locked diff to an open one.

Eventually I'll go to them again but they are going to my dad for his build. I'm gonna keep a spartan locker in the rear though.

I know it's a down grade but he helped get me this truck so it's fair haha

Thanks he's helped out a lot so I'm glad to help alittle. Once these are our I'm gonna try and Finnish up the shimmy when driving in the front it's much better after balance but from what I understand it might clean up alittle after the knuckle rebuild as well.

Carbs getting cleaned up cleaned off all the base and adapter plate/ going to replace the vacuum line as well.

New fluids for everything and go from there. Any input on additional stuff to kinda baseline the truck?

Plugs are gapped correctly
Valves done
Newish wires, cap and rotor

Awesome!

"Finnish up the shimmy" - Need to find some way to work that into a joke . . . can't research on my work computer, though!

Got the knuckles started today so far so good. Better than good really someone's done this before but I can't find a kit with these bearings but the fit so works for me lol

Going to Finnish up tomorrow and get the new 3rd memeber in.

Got the 3rd in last night gave it a paint job and cleaned up what I could the rain has slowed me down though.

Axles are back in new bearings are packed just needs to get thrown back together at we should be good to go.

Drag link is bent so some new steering linkage will be added while I'm in here.

You have to pull the cross pin out to remove the rear axles. It requires a special tool to remove it. It's like an L shaped allen key but has threads on it. The cross pin has a bolt covering the hole. Then thread the key in and remove the pin. Then cross pin can be removed and the pillow block can be removed and you can push the axles in to get the c clips out.

Thanks Marshall for the heads up, I would have probly been scratching my head on that one for a bit.

Hoping the 3rd for the rear shows up this week so I can get it done.

Pick my dad and mom up at the airport thrusday clocks ticking!!

Got the carb tuned and everything running pretty good hubs and brakes are all back together. Hoping the rest of the steering linkage will be here today so my dad can get to drive the truck.

New issue what to go with 33s or 35s lol

I'm rocking 4.10s and from what I understand with 35s it would be a lot like when I ran 33s on my stock gears with my last 60 get that rubber overdrive but take a loss going slow on the trail.

33s pretty close back to stock amd a good balance for on and off road maybe small amount of low range off road just not as cool lol
