ARB BASE RACK AND SHARK FIN ANTENNA ISSUE ON 2021

I wonder if it’s possible that there’s something different about the antenna on a 2021 compared to prior years. Seems unlikely, but maybe there was a change in their sourcing.

Even accounting for this it surprises me that ARB would overlook figment issues on upper trim models.

Is the US antenna the same as on ROW VX/VX-R’s?
I don't have a definitive answer. I looked it up and SiriusXM is only in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. I also looked back through my pictures from when I was in the Middle East (pics of 100's of 200 series) and don't see any shark fin antennae. That isn't an answer, but it leads me to believe it is not a ROW thing, but maybe some our international members can chime in?

Here's an overhead shot of a newish vx-r:

maybe a dumb question ... but does it come with a fit kit to change out the factory mounts like the other ARB racks for the lc200?

I have a 2016 and I will bet they are the same at least from the 2016's onward. My Gobi rack was specific to the 2016 and has a "cut out" of sorts for the fin. So others were aware and worked around it. I was looking at other rack options last night and at least one other one (may have been Prinsu or Front Runner seems to have a cutout or something that avoided a conflict with the fin. So other makers accommodated the fin without simply increasing the height of the rack.

I currently have a Frontrunner on my 2019...no cutout for the shark fin as the side rails place the rack above it.

You're right of course. I also checked the Front Runners again and no notch. I was probably just imagining. Dreaming. Wishful thinking. ;)

My Gobi stealth has a cut out as well for my 2015.

Ok, so we called ARB today and get this, they said oh yes, we have a fit issue. ARB is developing a different fit kit etc. blah blah blah but that does not help me now. I guess we will have to custom fab some spacers to bring it up a little higher. WTH! Photo shows we took the shark fin off to see how much space we need, and it is about 3/4"

Looks like the 4Running crew has seen this issue: Toyota-4Runner.org - https://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/215885-low-profile-xm-shark-fin-antenna-swap-3.html

Maybe ARB should design a shark fin replacement that allows for a true low-profile Base Rack. Really dissapointing it got this far.

ARB certainly needs to offer a taller mounting kit for US spec Cruisers, but a spacer could be placed between the mounting brackets and the rack in order to create the needed clearance. This is not ideal but it would allow use of the rack until ARB steps up with a solution.

Which is why no really low profile racks exist for the 200 probably. . .

Go fast campers has a shark fin delete kit for the 4Runner, maybe learn from how they approached it?

Good morning. So we have an issue or "opportunity". We have been working to install the new ARB Base Rack on our 2021 build. The Base Rack does not clear the Shark Fin.
Any solutions to this yet? I'm hoping it was just a fitment issue overlooked by the installer?

ARB has confirmed the issue and they've stopped US shipment of the racks until they have a solution (this is according to Mainline Overland through whom I have a rack on order). I'll update this thread when I get more information.
