Okay, this may sound like a dumb question... but why don't these guys just grab the next gear? Is bouncing off the rev limiter a "thing"?
Yeah haha, we like the sound that it makes. Especially since the 100 series slows down each time you rev more creating a even better sound :d

Do you guys get the V8 version out there? Also, when you see these LC's fail, what usually goes first? I guess the I6 from what I've read on the forum has a reputation for being some what "slow". That's clearly not the case here lol

Are these I6's modded in any way?

Yes we do have the V8 version, it comes in the full option version of the LC100(the good old days) , While the I6 does not produce much power, it is very strong, very robust we appreciate it here mainly due to its reliability and how it can handle stress. It produces just enough torque to satisfy our offroad needs, but most of us end up modding it for extra power.

One of the most popular mods is a 4-2-1 header followed with a cat delete and a 3.5INCH cold air intake. This gives the 1fze a sweet spot boost of both mid range and high end power. I guarantee you almost all LC100's here have that header installed. Same with cat deletes our law forbids having a louder then stock exhaust so we keep the stock muffler or deal with the consequences most of the times. Cat deletes however no one cares about that its legal here haha.

Do Qatari cruisers come with cats? My Saudi spec FZJ100 does not have a cat from factory...

Do you have a link for that header you speak of?

Are the cold air intakes protected from the sand? I suspect a ton of sand gets in the engine bay considering how much open space there is in there with the 1FZ and I imagine cold air intakes aren't going to be the best at protecting at that high flow rate and volume of sand... I could be wrong. lol

Yes they do from 1998+, And not all Qatari people are knowledgeable enough to cover they cold air intake filter with a pre filter or use the stock cleaner instead for better off road protection, but since the 1fze hold up to the extra dirt and grime with no problem nobody had the need to do that haha. I would still advise all my friends to use the stock air cleaner. For multiple reasons, first being the stock air cleaner has better airflow at low rpm which is better for my driving style. Secondly I absolutely hate the sound that the cold air intake makes.

Thanks for posting. Interesting stuff.

So these are stock I6 cruisers (plus the mods you mentioned)? They look like they are really moving through that sand I figured turbochargers.

What does an average 100 cost in Qatar - Ex: 2006/7; typical configuration?
