Mosquitos

Anyone know when the mosquitos start to show there ugly heads, the last time I was at the OBX was in August a few years ago and they were thick. I dont think they get bad until about mid summer, I plan on sleeping in the 80 and Im wandering if I need to make some screens for the rear sliding windows. Were they bad this time last year?

Stephen, now granted we were in the OBX's a month earlier last year, it was not bad at all, actually left the tailgate open one night. However if you do create some sort of screen than let us see what you've come up with I know this was discussed several times but never made a reality...at least that I know of.

Hang a bug zapper in the 80 :grinpimp:

So I'm adding an additional member to the OBX trip this year. I hope he does well, we might have to work out a puppy sitting contract with someone who also wants to do some kayaking... Say Hello to Nalu... it's Hawaiian for "Waves"

Wish I was going on this trip with y'all. I need me some OBX fix. Maybe we can get UC to start coming to this event. Sure would be a lot of fun.

That is intent for this ride, we needed something to keep up with you guys with GSMTR! We need to iron out some details and logistics, but we hope to start inviting other clubs to this ride and get it sanctioned...

Yes official meeting spot and at 5am, so it is written!

Just so you all realize from Cary it is a 3 hour and 27 minute drive, if we meet in Bailey's at the Hardees at five we have already cut an hour off the time meaning we would have about two hours and 30 so minutes putting us at swans quarter at 7:30am is that the plan still?

I figured a short bite to eat when we met up, and we could get back on the road at 6-6:30, 2.5 hours from Bailey put us there at 9 with cushion. Have to be there 9:30 at the latest to check-in for our reservations..

You guys enjoy breakfast...we'll be driving straight to the ferry and just grabbing some fast food on the way.

See ya tomorrow!

So can we set a solid leave-time from the Hardees at 6:15 or 6:30? That way if someone wants to just grab something quick to eat on the road, they don't necessarily have to be at the Hardees at 5am. That would give us non-morning folks a little flexibility.

I am going to speak for Brian here, YES departure from Hardees will be 6:30, we will be getting everyone together at 6:15 to ensure we have everyone and take some sort of roll. That way we can make phone calls to see where those not present...ARE

aye aye cap'n. See y'all there in time to get my chicken biscuit on.

i'll be heading to Duck this evening and hope to meet up with some of you on Friday. will any of you be on CB? if so, what channel?

"Something to remember, in 2009 all trail rides will require two-way hand held radio or CB/FRS and the ONSC Club Channel will be 7-0 unless otherwise noted."

Quick note on the forecast.....

0% chance of precip. Between 67-73* during the day. Coldest night is 56*. Sounds pretty near perfect to me!!!

I figure i'll be cruising through raleigh at about 230-300 am on friday morning. I'll be getting close to needed some fuel at that time... is there any big nice all night truck stops along the 40 right there??
actually i'll be at about 190 miles right where the 40 hits the 70east
