Just the tires that everyone likes around the forum and have been tested. There was a list of them, I remember seeing it in a post.

After searching through 18 pages of threads I found it.
I'm sure they're an "ok" tire, but I't stick with the following IH8MUD.com Forum Approved™ tires:
Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo
BFGoodrich All Terrian T/A
BFGoodrich Mud Terrain
Dunlop Radial Mud Rovers
Firestone Destination MT
Toyo Open Country MT
Nitto Terra Grapplers (AT tire)
Yokohama Geolandar AT+ II
Yokohama Geolandar MT+ (These are directional tires, so plan on having two spares, or running the spare on the wrong side)
Goodyear Wrangler MTR
Trxus MT or AT
Super Swampers (forgive me, I do not know super swamper type tires all that well)
ProComp Mud Terrains (per 4WD Toyota Owner Magazine)
... if I forgot some, please, someone, let me know.

Agreed, the best tire is also a location thing, what works well here in the desert will suck in deep mud. The best advice is to hookup with a local club and talk to them, then hit the trail with them, watch the tires your thinking of getting in action in the terrain that you plan on wheeling in.

i have the goodyear wrangler silent armor (their a/t) they are very nice, ballence well and came with a 60,000 warente
sorry Beo - no good reliable sources but I'm actually checking out a new contact that might be able to help. I'll keep you up to speed one way or the other. I really like the 325/75R16 as my only gripe was on the narrowness of the 9.0R16's.

I've had lots of tires on about ten different SUVs before finally "settling down" with the LandCruiser I've always wanted. I'm more of a "pink panty" kind of Cruiserhead, mostly on road, some boat towing alot of kid-hauling etc. My only off-road is gravel fire road kind of stuff.
For my kind of driving nothing beats the ORIGINAL (Michelin LTX) tires. They're not really an off-road design, but they do most things really well, and I have collectively put over 100,000 miles on some without having to replace them at 30K -40K like some of my other choices. When you factor in the longevity of the Michelin, they wear like iron and are the least expensive in the long run if you plan on keeping the vehicle.
