Anyone use a U-Haul camper? (Kind of like a Scamp)

There's one up the road a bit that's just sitting there and I might stop by and see if the guy would part with it. Figured I'd ask if anyone's ever towed one behind a 'cruiser before.

For those who don't know, in the '80's U-Haul decided to rent campers. So they bought the molds from Burro, which are kind of like Scamps but double hulled. Then they put them on a tube-steel frame and basically toughened them up to handle renters. The real catch that I see is that they don't have brakes on them, and I'm not certain how hard it would be to fit them.

They're only about 1200 pounds, and should be less than 2000 even with all my crap in there for extended camping. I assume this is fine for an FJ40 to tow?

It should be a pretty similar experience to Scamps, so I'd like to hear about those as well.

Post up a picture. Sounds nice and light. Even with out brakes 1200 isn't too bad. Is your FJ40 limited to 7000lbs total(trailer and truck, all gear included)
The BJ60 is limited to 7500lbs total Gross veh........

New axles with brakes can be retrofitted cheap. Was going to do this to my popup trailer. Less than $300. Good luck, Jim
