hey guys have a 73 fj45 ute and has old handbrake on dash which is us but wondering had anyone swapped it to later cable handbrake on floor then used rear drum handbrake setup instead on later models

I've wondered that myself but have never seen it done.

I'm pretty sure Poser has done exactly this. Seems like he has posted pics.:hhmm:

His Red Truck has an Atlas TC and does not have the parking brake on it so the truck I'm thinking of may be his own.

I don't see a problem with using the later ebrake on the axle, I think the problem is with moving to the floor mounted mechanism. not sure if you have enough room underneath for the mechanism. the humps have different dimensions. also you'd have to disconnect the cable if you needed to remove the hump unless you had enough "give" in the cable to get the hump out of the way.

It will fit left of the driver seat. No hump problems. Measured out my 78 to put one in for my cad calipers.

I installed the late handle on the hump. No clearence problems. It is still to the standard brake drum on the T/C, and it does have 2" of body lift.

What cable modifications were required?
