Thinking of a sleeping platform in the back of a LC 200...Have ARB drawers that I want to mount in the back of a 200 series. Does it work? Any experience? How tall can one be? I am 6, 1"...Thanks for any thoughts.

I'm about 6" shorter than you, but I love sleeping in the back on top of the ARB drawers. I use mosquito nets over the side windows and roll them down about halfway and sleep like a baby with this setup:

Yes. I’m 6’3” and there is plenty of room...because they combine with the second row seat back nicely. An inflatable mat works well on either side...since the center armrest can be up or down:

What is the height of the arb drawers and does it pretty closely match the folded 2nd row?

Yup, hundred + nights on my ARB drawers over the last 5 years (100 & 200), couldn't be happier with the ease of camping inside.

Hate to resurrect an old thread... I am leaning towards these drawers and does having the top slide on both drawers effect being able to sleep on them? Also, does anyone know the actual weight of the ARB drawer set up?

Did you email us a list of similar questions this afternoon @ CruiserOutfitters?

Thanks, we had a pretty big influx of emails over the weekend but you'll be top of the list tomorrow morning.

In short the drawers weight ~150 lbs and you can sleep on top with the RDRF or standard RF, non-issue there. They don't rate the top surface of them with any capacity numbers, I'm 250lbs and don't have any worry about telling someone 350lbs would be fine. They have a full metal framework.

Awesome! Thank you for the response. Will be on the look out for it tomorrow.

I posted a pic earlier in this thread. I have the slider drawers. No issue.

BTW, I use a 2’ x 3’ piece of thin fiberboard that I picked up for cheap at Home Depot. I use it to bridge the space between the top of the drawer and the folded 2nd row seat when sleeping. When not sleeping I turn it cross ways to the drawers and place it up against the back of the deployed 2nd row seats. It is long enough to span both drawers. I put a couple small patches of hook & loop on the bottom to help it stay in place but also leave it easy to move if necessary. I do this so that when I slide the top of the drawers out, items situated against the back of the 2nd row seats don’t fall into the now exposed drawers. ;-)

I would highly recommend putting slide tips on both sides for several reasons.

-Ansolutely fine for sleeping. I’m 6’3” 250# and never a hint of an issue.
-Roll-top makes access to the extreme back portion of drawer space easy from the inside because rolling the roll-too exposes the drawer contents all the way to the back.
-Makes Maint. and temporary removal of the drawers much easier.
-Got big & heavy stuff to throw in there (think Costco runs with water bottles etc)? Rolling the FULL floor out makes loading and unloading a breeze...with no reaching way back over the tailgate.
Got all-boxes strapped to the drawer top? It’s great to be able to roll them out for easy side access as opposed to crawling in the truck to access strapped-in boxes.

I had just one roller side on my drawers in my 200 series...but wow. So nice to have roll tops on both now.

Many ask the question of whether it’s worth getting the roll-top version of ARB drawers...or just one...or none.

Here is one more reason I think it’s absolutely worth having both roller tops, even if no fridge:
After Costco-

Without roll-top access to heavy stuff:

With roll-top access to same stuff:

I know which way my aching back prefers.

PS. Also let’s you access extreme rear of drawers from the second row...meaning you don’t have to pull items out of the front of the drawers to grab something way in back.

The Exped Megamat is awesome. Almost like my pillowtop at home.

My question is whether anyone sleeps inside their ARB drawers. :)

I went with one slide top, and now wish I had done both as sliding tops, and I don't have a fridge (yet). Stuff that gets to the very front of the drawer gets really challenging to dig out on the non-slider side, since the drawer doesn't come all the way out.

I have slept on top of mine and it's great.

How much are the dual ARB roller drawers? It’s hard to tell on their website if the price is for one or two drawers. A link for the price of both drawers would be awesome! I have a 2010 LX.
