Don't know where to post this to get the most exposure but looking to borrow a 1/4" and 3/8" BPS tap. I'll only need to use these one time each so that's why I'm not just buying them. And they are about $40 each from the sources I've found. Thanks.

do you mean British Standard Thread? BST. If so, I have some, if it's something else, then no.

Luke, I do indeed mean British Standard Pipe! As I mentioned I need to tap precisely one 1/4" and one 3/8" BSP holes as part of the Safari Turbo install. I would really appreciate it if we could work out something where I could borrow the taps with the stipulation that if I mess them up I'll replace them for you. Just seems like a lot of unnecessary expense for me to buy these for these two holes. PM me or email me if that's cool. Thanks.

BSPP is not the same as BSPT one is parallel thread and one tapered. BSPP taps can be had at www.mcmaster.com

Brett, yeah I know, read my original post. Right now I'm just trying to find someone that has British Standard Pipe taps and is willing to loan them to me. Once I get that far I can ascertain whether they'll have the parallel thread taps I need.

Refer to No. 17 and No. 26 in these install instructions generously posted by yomama. It states just "BSP" but I have been told (and have inspected the fittings) that these are the parallel thread version. I have also seen the BPS and BSP interchanged on numerous websites. I'm just about ready to just tap it closely or as close as I can get with whatever I can get and use a liberal amount of Loc-Tite teflon thread sealant and call it good. Just thought I'd try to do it "properly" but that turbo has been sitting on my workbench for 3 months now....

Let me look at my set and see if I have them that small. I am a plumber and we typically deal with larger than 1/2" pipe. I'll get back to you.... Luke

Luke - very appreciated.

I don't have them that small.... but heres a suggestion.

NPT- national pipe thread is just ever so slightly different than BST. In the larger sizes it is evident, but in the smaller sizes the difference is imperceptible. I would suggest that you go ahead and tap it with conventional taps and use a good teflon impregnated thead paste. In a pinch I've needed to do this on industrial jobs and I have joints that are currently holding better than 175psi with no trouble. But in any case, I don't have taps that small. Sorry, Luke
