Hello!

Another member suggested this forum as a possible place for getting input on a X-Mas purchase for my husband. I need help!!! He use to be into RC cars as a kid and had mentioned interest in one for tooling around and having the dog chase in the yard. And I have no clue about this stuff, I know he would want electric and a dune buggy. It would be used on our paved driveway as well as the pressed gravel/dirt part and possibly on the yard where it's compact moss. And I'm looking to spend $100 - $150, I really can't go above that. So after much looking around, I think I'd like to go with the Traxxas Bandit ESC, as linked. Does anyone have any input on this, I'd really appreciate it!

Traxxas is pretty decent stuff...

A few years ago I was really into that hobby. I used to do stadium racing for money. Would spend literally thousands on trucks, buggies, tools, radios, equipment, you name it.

I use to run Losi stuff exclusively, but I know a Losi ready-to-run will cost more than $150. Hell, I think a build it yourself kit from Losi would cost more than that.

Anyway, this was 10 years ago when I was doing this, so things have changed a lot. Losi and Associated are still the top two I think, but Traxxas has come a long way. Back when I was racing, Traxxas was a bit of a joke, more of "toy" than a serious racer. But I have seen some really nice stuff coming from Traxxas the last few years in the hobby shops, so I think Traxxas is a lot better (and has more of a following) than they use to be.

Sorry I can't be more helpful. I gave up R/C years ago when I actually started to have enough money for full-sized money pits, like Land Cruisers. :D

well, these were cheaper before Mot figured out how much boxing them up was;) , but I can't imagine a better rc for someone that likes landcruisers:) I wouldn't hesitate dealing with Mot again, great service!

if you want to try out a cheap RC get on of the nylint rockcrawlers. not a sune buggy bet hell of alot of fun for the cash. they can be had at walmart in jeep or rock buggy in 1/18th and 1/6th scale. I suggest the 1/6th you will be under your amount. check out www.rccrawler.com they have a section of their forum for these units.

Thanks for all of the input everyone, I'm sure he'll be pretty surprised!

Can't go wrong with Traxxas, Team Associated, Team Losi or Tamiya. All of them are repairable. Many of the cheaper Radio shack/Circuit City type brands are throw away once they break. Traxxas is one of the leaset expensive to buy replacement parts for and you don't have to buy half the car to get the part you need, usually under $10 to get what you need to fix it. I have a Traxxas and love it. (I have a T-Maxx, slightly larger than what you are looking at) I also have A Team Associated RC10 (old stuff) They are both great. Throw a couple of extra battery packs in his stocking!

ctopal,

Let me know if you win a lottery.:D

Anyway, I'm sure your hubby will be thrilled with whatever you end up getting him. You are very thoughtful to have done as much research as you have done.;)

Happy holidays!

Traxxas vehicles are very fun and affordable. I just bought one for my son and it is for Chistmas, but I want to play with it now.

I ordered from these guys:
http://www.rczonecentral.com/catalog/

Super fast, ordered Thursday, received Saturday. And I asked them to wrap it in plain paper so the boy couldn't read what it was. It showed up, he got the door and said that I got something.

For the Stampede I paid $175(shipped), but that is ready to go.

I can't wait for Christmas.

im still tryin to save enough for one of those cruisers mot
