Anyone ever towed a 60 Series with a U-Haul car hauler?

Yea, U Haul rented me one a few years back for GSMTR.

Got over there & went to turn it in for the week & the place said I was in violation-NOT SAFE by their standards & said if I turned it in to them they would not re-rent it to me:mad:

Sooooooo......

Went down the road to a "mom & pop" place & turned it in......went back 5 days later & walla rented it again & drove home.

Word to the wise.....you mention land cruiser to U-Haul & they :ban:

Road trip & have fun.

That's about right!

buy a good car trailer, not a uhaul p.o.s. you can recoup most if not all of your money if you sell it when you're done or, you may just realize how worthwhile they are to have around.

I screwed up my steering box once and it grenaded way up in the mountains (do not disassemble a recirculating ball steering box unless you know what you're doing!) and I had to retrieve the Cruiser with another vehicle. To make matters worse, I had a 2000 lbs camp trailer hitched to the Cruiser. So I got hold of a Cummins powered Dodge and a tow dolly or "low boy" and went after it. It made me nervous since I had such a goofy string of things all together; a truck hitched to a tow dolly that was upporting the front axle of my Cruiser which was still hitched to a pop up trailer. I had to come down Fairview canyon, an incline on which a loose roller-skate could break the sound barrier. Well, I came away without incident, I used first gear all the way down that nasty road and I think I may have held my breath all the way down as well. I learned a new respect for Cummins turbo diesel as that thing acted as though there was nothing at all hitched to it. The bottom line is this; if you use your head you will be ok. DO NOT over estimate your stopping ability, go slow and carefull and it will be fine.

I used one of the wheel dolleys from uhaul and towed my 60 from Laramie, wyoming to northwest washington with no problems. we were just really craeful about checking straps and making sure it had grease in the pivot point in the middle.

I did it with a Penske truck and a trailer. I think they assumed it was an FJ40 and not a 60 when I just told them '83 Land Cruiser. I went from Arizona to Georgia, I-10 the whole way. It was a little scary in the hilly and windy areas, but on flat land it was 65-70 all day long. I don't think I'd recommend it, but as long as you're careful and don't drive tired or do something stupid, and check your trailer and straps at every stop it can be done.

yep, towed a 62 on a u-haul 500 miles with my 80. Would never do it again. The 80 never missed a beat, got upset or wandered a great deal, But it was the heaviest SOB i have ever towed and I have towed many cars on car carriers before

List the move on uship.com. I have shipped everything from 3Bs, police cars, golf carts, boats, trailers and LCs, never had a problem. Just check the shippers feedback.
