I’m looking at this option to run daily driving without rings but still be able to add rings for occasional wheeling trips.

I searched for a while in vain. It's a very shallow hole. Ended up having my holes welded up and the lips machined flat. Fake beadlocks are dumb.

You can order a set sold for the smaller rock warrior type (for tacomas and 4R) and they work fine. Also cheaper. Their head is maybe a half millimeter smaller, but makes zero difference. If you order RW screes individually, they are stupid expensive at $4+ each (per screw).

If you only need a few, I can send a few used ones to you.

I’m looking for a flush solution without the rings that’s why I was thinking set screws with no head.

It's a M8x1 thread (note not M8x1.25 which is typical). I think most who run without the rings, just leave them open.

Couldn't you just buy some set screws from Mcmaster carr?

OK. Missed that. Only saw RET2 comment and that you wanted screws. If you have not already taken your rings off to look underneath… I would suggest doing that, as it can sometimes look pretty rough under there.

I’ve never heard of anyone wanting to make those screw holes flush, etc. So I don’t have a suggestion on that…

Also, if you haven't taken them off, I wish you luck in getting them off. I gave up after an hour or two. I was only able to get one of my 4 rings off. The other three all had at least 2 bolts i couldn't get out. That was after ordering "better" T35 bits and using a breaker bars/electric impact gun. Then the tire shop i brought them to tried to take them off (i warned them ahead of time to not bother, but they tried anyways) and they said they broke every T35 they had in the shop and didn't get them off.

I have all of them off of five wheels except for one which is giving me hell. I have one more thing to try and then I’m welding a nut for purchase or drill it out. I had the most success with Milwaukee brand impact bits but I have broken many other brands getting to this point. My 1/2” impact won’t even get this stubborn one loose due to the galling of different metals. Under the rings they are super nasty and that’s why I don’t want to run the rings after spending the effort to refinish them.

Thanks for the offer on the screws though.

If you are having them refinished, maybe just get them to fill the holes with metal. That is going to look better than any set screw or bolt.

Good call, but they only have regular steel or wrong size stainless.

Are you going to paint the rim? If so just epoxy the holes shut with bondo or a metal fill, sand and paint.

Can forged wheels be welded without weakening the relevant areas? I know even the temperatures used in traditional powder coating can lead to cracks..

Any quality dedicated fastener dealer should be able to fill your needs. It's not like they are unobtainum.
