Anyone else's gear shifter tighten up based on temperature or moisture?

I have noticed that occasionally it is hard to put the truck in gear or back into park from time to time. Any thoughts?

Filthy linkages?

It comes and goes so it would seem like filthy linkage is not the issue.

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on where the dirt is. I've had intermittent VC and Hi/Lo switching problems for exactly that reason. I don't think the same applies in your you, because you aren't fighting solenoids to move the selector lever. But, the gearbox is still geared and if there was internal failure, you see it in operation too. I'd bet on the linkage. It's pretty simple to expose the top of the xmsn. Make sure you get the Door Trim Panel Remover Tools, I like mine.

When my wife gets moist my shifter stiffens up quite a bit!

Thanks. I have panel removal tools but just to be clear, you're suggesting I check the top side of the transmission?

Yep. That's where the linkage is. At least the external part.
