The burl wood trim on my dash and doors is looking pretty ratty. I’m not a fan of the look even when new, and I’d like to remove it all but I’m not sure what’s underneath. It is just appearance grade plastic that was maybe used on the global spec models? How do you remove it?

I’d like to either just leave it bare, find a stick-on kit with a material that looks a little more contemporary, or experiment with laser-cut saddle leather.

Anyone de-burlify and have pics of the results?

You can use plastic trim piece removal tool and pry it off. Then wash the plastic with soap and water to remove residue. I dont have pics but its pretty easy to do.

I de-Lexified my 100 several years ago. Take your time. Use a low wattage heat gun. And I found WD-40 worked wonders to remove the remaining adhesives
