Anybody Snow Plow With Their Land Cruiser?

Yes, I saw those. When you click on the plows, it tells you they don't work with a 2008 Land Cruiser. Think I will call them in the morning and give them a chance to educate me. Thanks for taking the time to search.

Yeah, I hope you don't either. This is sorta daydreaming, but one of my experiences I want to realize in the next few years is spending a winter in the snow belt of Maine. Wood stove, snow mobile, roof rake, generator, etc. The one problem I foresee is snow removal from the drive/entry road. I have bad shoulders and believe I would be unable to handle a snow blower on a regular basis, so thought I would start researching snow plows. Found several pictures of older TLCs pushing plows, but nobody plowing with a 200 series.

Kind a like using a racehorse as a plow horse doesn’t make any sense. Buy a old one ton 4x4 duelly diesel add a couple thousand pounds in that bed and ow yurgood to go. Right tool for the right job

I think you could use one for light duty plowing. If you have a small flat driveway you could probably get away with using it for personal use. And live in an area That doesn't commonly get storms much over a foot and you keep up with plowing. That is By using one of the LT plows that go in a 2” recieved.

But really Based on the plow trucks I have owned and what I see used up here in Alaska a 3/4 ton is sort of the minimum.

That’s pretty funny...since it was their own vehicle search tool that resulted in that list. :) Oh well...

Maybe you can consider an older, cheap, used truck that serves that limited purpose...

That is what I did for years when I had a long driveway at the end of a dead end street. Had a 1991 F250 that I left the blade on year round. Didn’t even have it tagged.

Most people up here buy a quad with a plow. Win-win

Not sure that there's a 200-specific kit as it's such a niche vehicle. There's a chance that a Tundra kit could be adapted. Front hitches for Tundras have been known to fit 200-series tow hook mounts. So if that's where the major mount is for a plow, there might be a chance.

A quad would be nice, but wouldn’t it need to be one of the heaviest, beefiest of quads do anything beyond thin layers? I don’t live in a snow area, so I don’t know. Just thinkin.

Seems like quads are kinda taking over the world these days... A windowed, air & heat John Deer version caught my eye the other day. That’s the one element that makes me wince in super-hot, muddy/dusty stuff when I see these roasting, or cold/wet/dirt-soaked folks breathing dust as we took on by in comfort.

The window thing solves it.

Really? Have you used one In B.C.? I don’t know anyone up here in AK that use a quad as their primary plow. I know a few guys that have tried but say they struggle with more than a few inches. All have ended up getting an old 3/4 Ton then use the quad for the “small stuff”.

I think the ultimate for the Maine cabin in the woods scnerio would be a Holder with a blower and plow attachments.

There is no way in hell I would ever mount a plow on my Land Cruiser. Ever. Plows beat the hell out of whatever truck you put them on. Pay someone else to tear up their truck.

Several of my neighbors have quads with plows on them, including the guy right across the street. He uses it every storm, seems to have no trouble.

Well they seem to do just fine for my neighbors. But, I'm not really watching, I'm usually out cursing and fighting with my POS snowblower. I hate that thing. I wish Lexus made snowblowers.

When I lived in NH, the two most common plow rigs were older 3/4-1 ton pickups and tractors. I used a tractor with a loader and it was a good tool for jobs the rest of the year too. Plus it doubled as an engine hoist, fork-lift, wheel barrow, firewood hauler, mulch spreader, and four wheeler. If I were going to live in Maine I'd definitely have a tractor with a loader.

Yep, my buddies in the 100 Mile House area both use quads but it’s a drier spot.

I spent a winter plowing in MN with a 3/4 ton Chevy and I can attest to a couple of things. First, plowing with a daily driver is a no-go. It's a huge hassle to have a plow on a vehicle you use for anything else. Second, plowing more than a short driveway is extremely hard on a vehicle. The first truck I used fairly quickly lost the clutch and the replacement with an automatic lost the transmission within a few months. Third, after a few heavy snowfalls, the ridge of snow along the side of the road/drive becomes immovable and you'll need some heavy equipment to get rid of it. So, I recommend a tractor with a plow and front loader, sized for the length of road/driveway and expected snowfall. I eventually had a 3-point hitch snowblower for a tractor and enjoyed plowing at night using the work lights. That blower could throw some snow!

Holder tractor with blower, blade, bucket,... is the ultimate up here in Alaska.

I know a guy up near telkeetna that keeps a blade attached to his unimog all winter.
