Any tips on getting the LX to perform better at passing?

Then I drive it sort of like a pseudo-manual.
4th = D
3rd = OD off
2nd = 2
1st = L

I also have the 4spd, and got tired of jacking with the PWR button and having to press the pedal all the way to the floor just to get it to down shift, so I drive mine like Ohthetrees does, you're not hurting anything.

Hope and pray? But in all seriousness, I know the 100s aren't the fastest vehicles out there but it could be far worse. I remember my father said this thing felt like a race car compared to his '96 LC. That being said, mom's '14 LX feels like a rocket ship compared to the Hundy especially when you floor it around 45-55 MPH, or just plain floor it whenever.

I normally drive pretty conservatively but in the situations where I did have to pass, it didn't seem to take so long... Though I went to pass a tractor trailer the other week and a guy in a Prius had no problems keeping up with me :crybaby:. Usually I'll try to anticipate and either get a head start or just wait. As others have said before, the PWR button only changes the shift mapping, it doesn't give you 20 extra ponies as some people are lead to believe.

I just had my front brake calipers and pads replaced due to my passenger side sticking and causing pad drag. That alone made a world of a difference, so keep things like that in mind.

Anyway, just enjoy the drive! Cheers.

I drove my 100 about 4k miles from Los Angeles, to Yellowstone to Colorado for 100's in the hills and back home last summer. I averaged 12 MPG? on 33's and stock gearing. My biggest issue was keeping speed while climbing long steep grades. I since have regarded to 4;88's and gotten 34.5'' tires and it feels much better, but gas mileage has not really improved. It can pass, but its nothing like my wife's car 2014 Q7. I recently drove her car to Las Vegas from LA and averaged 25 MPG driving about 90. It feels solid at high speed. while my wife was asleep I got it up to 125 easily. That being said, its a great vehicle, but for some reason its just not as comfortable and enjoyable to drive as my LC. I should also mention I drive a new Prius Prime as a daily driver, so I really enjoy getting in to my LC on the weekends. I don't think you can fairly compare a 17 year old car to a 3 year old car. Most of the new cars have 6-8 speed transmissions. If I could get a 6-8 tranny in my 100 series, I don't think any of us would ever have anything to complain about..... time to start a new thread on the possibility of putting a 6-8 speed tranny in , lol

I went from a 4cyl Wrangler to an LC and then the current LX. One of little joys in my life is passing any Wrangler, 4 or 6cyl up Donner Pass on the way to Tahoe. I have to pass the slow trucks all the time no problem and dont think twice hopping back into the slow lane in front of someone to make the pass.
