Some of the best rigs I have seen in person recently, owned by members of Front Range 4x4, have been rattle canned on all armor and majority of body. For practical use it makes sense as one may bump and grind their truck while using it on the weekend, and need to touch it up nice and quick for the work week ;)!

Let's see em

Pete's Truck! - Full Rattle Can!!!

Chris's old truck (almost bought it... got beat to it :crybaby:) Lower half, armor, some of the red, and the roof rack are all Rattle Can!!!

A bit dusty, but the only pic I have handy. Rattle can and bedliner.

I love the two tone with olive drab. Kinda what I had in mine.

RockDoc - Does it hold up fairly well? What kind of paint and bedliner did you use? How long and how many cans did it take?

Really like the Jerry can holder on the red FJ62. Is that holder a home build or an aftermarket purchase? Thanks!

Both are Krylon ... the green needs clear to stand up to the sun ... but the orange did well with out .... easy to repair :steer:

It's a modified Solid Rock bumper I do believe.

That's what I was thinking too. Pretty sure Chris mentioned it being a custom bumper & tire swing-out before he turned it into jerry can heaven. One of the beefiest I have seen in person!

Heres mine....

rustloeum "navajo white"
I love touch ups after being on the trail or the trail being on it.

Wow! This has always been one of my favorite trucks on Mud, but this make me love it even more!!!! Looks amazing.

Is that a semi-gloss?

Big question - How many cans approx did you use for vehicle? Any idea the breakdown? Like 3 per door, 4 for hood, 3 for tailgate, 3 for hatch, etc.

After seeing this im going for it!! I have a bunch of friends who are great with rattle cans - Cruiser Paint Party!!

I love it - some of my favorite trucks on Mud are turning out to be full rattle can :D!!

Love the bobbed - a fav for sure! What is the color name of the orange? Semi-gloss or flat?

what was your prep method? did you use primer? Multiple cots? Or just spray and go?

So far it seems to hold up well, other than a little rust bleed through at seems (like where the body of the door meets the window surround near the side mirrors on the front doors). It wasn't a pro job by any means, the truck has lots of fiberglassed over rust underneath the bedliner. I believe the paint was Rustoleum Satin Dark Olive (say 7 cans) and the liner is Duplicolor stuff I got for cheap as distressed cans at a surplus place.

I rattle can bumpers, cages, spring packs, pretty much everything except body panels (with the exception of my FJ40, it's so ugly I can't hurt it.)

One suggestion I would make when painting bumpers etc. is to use appliance epoxy. It is a lot more durable and UV resistant. Regular Rustolem will fade in one season outside, appliance epoxy will hold up for years. The down side is that there is almost no color selection.

Here are the vents on my 60, I did them with black

How long has the black appliance epoxy held up on the vents and bumpers?

Probably a year with no change in appearance (the pictures were take right after I painted them but they look the same now). The truck is parked outside all the time.
